Is the single (std) top shock bracket common to all later works hydrolastic cars with front shock added? Did any have the doubled bracket of works dry cars?

I'm afraid I don't have any information on 777F, but from what I understand it is fairly complete. Hopefully I can get up to see it some stage during its restoration. It's nice to see someone put a genuine works car back to road worthiness, but like I said, hopefully she'll be used and not stuck into storage somewhere.

Got sent these photos of the current situation with ORX - now ready for the blasters. Shell looks in pretty good nick so far.

Hi Dave, no photographs but trust me it is a very complete car. My friend is building the entire unit at the minute for another friend who is building the car. It will be some car when finished be assured of that fact. I want to wait until our local Rally show before taking photographs. Ian may want to take photographs before it is finished. :)

I'm itching to take a run up to Roberts to see how progress is going. Be awesome to see her finished and back on the road. Which other ORX is in Ireland? Be good to get a photo of the ORX sisters together.

My friend Elgin Greer owns ORX 707F and it is setting down at Robert's workshop at the minute. Both will be at the Killyleagh Car & Bike show August 2. The engine is at Elgin's being rebuilt this week and it is worth having a viewing.

Here is 707F with Denis Biggerstaff's works Metro 6R4 at our local show last year.

Here's Steve Ecky's replica of the Tulip car, worked with Mike Wood on the detail, who'll be in the car at Blyton.

I know Elgin very well. 707F is a great motor - seen it out and about many times.

I'll definately make a point of coming to the show in August. It's not a show I've been to before.

Ian,

You will be made very welcome but remember there is an age cut off point in place. Our first outing is Argory House vehicle rally Moy Dungannon. I will be taking a Cooper S up to join Ken Colbert's display. :D

I'll be at the Argory as usual with the rally Mini. Be good to meet up for a chat. I usually park up beside Ken myself.

Just to get this thread back on course, Dave here's a photo I've not seen before (sorry about the quality). From 'Motoring' - the Nuffield group magazine, four Tartan Red Cooper S's lined up and ready to be transformed into the 1966 Monte cars, just as Paul's car would have done a month or two later.

Ian,

If my wife is not going up with me I will take the Mk2 Cooper S. If she is I will be in the Mk3 Cooper S more refined  :D

Sunday 26 April we are at Warren Park Lisburn Banbridge Show.

Interesting - and 2 Morris/2 Austin aligns with what they were on the rally. (unusual for Aaltonen to have an Austin badge?).

Shame about the Nuffield caption - "The only modifications...", when one was built into a Gp2 car.

I don't think anyone doubts 309 was a new car for the 66 RAC. What we didn't know, and the French Forum Auto has just informed us, was that there was a new jacket too.....

I wonder what happened to the actual '66 RAC Graham Hill car? it's not the racer in the U.S I don't think, that car had the later 1967 boot lid on it for starters when pictured at Abingdon.

See earlier in thread. I'm still looking for a photo of the Fall car on the 66 Welsh carrying the 309 reg to assess the damage (Grimshaw's bend on Eppynt) as to whether it was likely to have been repaired or scrapped. There is no hard evidence the Welsh car was the actual RAC 309 but it is logical it was (see earlier). The recorded sighting of a 309 as a practice car in 67 raises the question of repaired or number plate swapped.
