It was Lee Brown who did more cars for the king of cool like his Ferrari's. They were all made to stand out of the "normal" ones

Came across these two pics while browsing for various Mini related stuff... anyone know either of the cars...? presumably the L reg'd one must be a W&P...

PUS 23 is a very late Radford hatchback, lives up near me, and the second one does look like a W&P!
I asked Gordon Spice if he remembers Radfords and he said a few mates had them, and he owned one himself!

I know it's not a Radford but I have never seen this shot of James Garner before.

PUS 23 was owned by the Aranian Ambassadors daughter. The other car looks like a W&P alright. Never seen that one before.

I think the car was parked at the London Embassy during the Iranian incident which involved the SAS.

I have never seen a WP with Cibie,s fitted like this.
This is the same way Neville Trickett did it on the Sprints = too much of the flat area visible around the chromed headlight rim.
Also the spots are not recessed into the grill as pr W&P spec.
The arches are not W&P - they are Group 5 Arches.
Here is how W&P fitted the Cibie headlights.

I wouldn't have picked up on the fitment of the Cibies if you hadn't said that JC. I suppose the arches could've been fitted after the car had been through W&P's hands, if it has at all. The bonnet badge looks like the round Mk2 Austin / Morris 850 / 1000 type, it doesn't look like a Cooper badge. The wheels look like Dunlop D1s from this angle..... bit of a hotch-potch this one..!
This W&P Margrave pic popped up in my search yesterday...
6892d80e75186e38dad6ec6ed41f84c1.jpg
And this one, looks like a Mk1 S with possibly a Radford style dash, awful MkIV/V rear lamps and oddest rear wiper I've ever seen on a Mini...

We've had this one before I think but not seen the rear end... W&P badge fitted to the bumper by the looks of it and what look like 'Minilite' branded wheel spinners...

Radford, W&P or both...?

Hi WMU 211G.
First Margrave is Reginald Kenneth Dwight's outside Abbey Road studios. Taken by a member of the W&P facebook group who was passing by one day & thank goodness he did! Including the stack of 8 tracks & interior.
Third & forth attachment are my photos from a recent work trip to Cannes including Omar's matching Rolls Royce. DB automotive's mini not the most expensive ever mini languishing in the South of France
The B&W photo under PUS 23 was from the background of a magazine advert that I found recently. I will find it & post. Good fun finding all the missing Margraves & W&P's in the classifieds of old magazines.
Lets get back to Radfords on this thread!
Regards
John

Nothing to do with Neville, he had left the Sprint project by the time Geoff started having the rectangular headlights fitted after a late night contretemps with PC plod. Neville absolutely hates them I thinks it cocks up his whole original design.

Thanks for that lot John... I should have recognised Elton's WP, I 've got another pic of it somewhere, taken on his driveway.
With apologies for continuing to drag us off topic, but I find the whole coachbuilt Minis saga so fascinating

Hi WMU 211G,
This one is a mk1 W&P it can be ID'd by the door handles. Radfords kept the original lock and door handles but WP changed the lock and door handle on there mk1s & early mk2's to the Rover P4 system which was a complex conversion but much superior to Radfords doors. This modification help deal with the doors weight as they are very heavy with the piper window motors and 1/4 lights.

W&P fitted the austin 1100 lock and door handles in the later mk2's

Remember the Innocenti Minis had those rear lamps long before the Lucas versions were fitted to the Mk4 Mini in the UK from 1976 so would have been seen as an exotic upgrade back then. I remember having Mk1 Minis in the early 1970's with later Mk2/3 rear lights fitted and really wanting to get hold of the Carrello? Innocenti type with built in reversing lights to make mine look different and stand out!
(The Innocenti lamps also had a different pattern on the lenses, circular on the clear reversing lens section when compared to Lucas UK versions)

Thanks Nev
Mab - my first Mk1 had Mk4 tail lamps grafted on by the previous owner, my plan was always to get it put back to original but I sold the car before I could get round to it when a very tidy Mk2 Cooper came along for £1500. Looked bloody awful truth be told!
Another Radford shot which popped up on a search, with Beetle tail lights as per George Harrison's car...

That's the first production steel hatchback design, the same as used on the car Peter Sellers had done as a 21st Birthday present for Britt Ekland in October 1965. The top corners of the hatch are much more curved and it's a different shape than the 2nd steel design which came in 1966 as per mine and Brian Harding's. I THINK that car belonged to a band member from Foreigner(?) but you have to wonder whether it was the Ekland car originally? There's another one being restored oop here just like it, can't think of another like that in the UK.

Could watch that footage all day long Pete
I think I've only ever seen one published view of the rear of the Ekland car, must be in a book somewhere, I'd forgotten it had Beetle rear lights.
