Another interesting batch of 1980/90's Mini Racing photos!

Do you have photos going into the 2000's in your collection, as I am thinking of maybe starting a "2000/10/20's Mini Racing Photos" thread up to the present day?
I have a few photos from early in that era from when my brother moved from racing Mini Seven to Miglias, as well as some more recent stuff from the Brands Hatch Mini Festivals, etc.

I stopped racing my Mini in 2002 with the last CCR at Zolder and afterwards attended some race meetings but not that many as I used to do. Into the 3rd Millenium I have some pictures and even I, very late, switched to digital photographing. But Minis got rarer in race meetings too. I will have a look, if they might be interesting, I'll adjust the size to fit in a thread and let you know what I have left.

The last three series of photos within the 90s will be the 98 and 99 CCR and the Mini 40 pictures from Silverstone if it is alright for you.

CCR 1998

This 1275GT used to be driven by Jon Mowatt, then Fernand Lelong from Luxembourg bought it and it was driven by German Helmut Kuhlhavy. Here still with the paint like used by Mowatt, later it was painted in the colours of the new sponsor. Now this has has found its way back to England with Swiftune who painted it again in the original white/black/red.

Mini 40 Silverstone

For some years I had registered for the Rover Sport Privateer Bonus Scheme. In 1999 I got a letter from them that they would like my racing Mini to show on the infield of Silverstone on the Competition Mini area and sent along a pass to get into Silverstone circuit. Well, I asked my friend Léon if he would like to go along with me. Having arranged everything including the ferry crossings we sat off for Silverstone.

The Mini Se7en Racing Club built a Mini 7 from scratch for a raffle. I should have known this GTM as it competed in the 1970 500km race at the Nürburgring that I attended with my father. But at that time (14 years of age) I did not yet know that it was powered by a Mini engine!

An anecdote:
During the event I was told by an official of the event that my car was chosen by a jury to be presented on the centre stage and that I should hurry to queue my Mini up next to the stage. I was a bit overwhelmed because I thought myself what I or better my Mini should do on the stage? Well, I drove my Mini to where the queue ended and in front of me only ex-works Mini of the finest quality. John Rhodes talking to the chairman of the MCR whose name I forgot sat in one of the Minis in the queue. The interviewer was a bit puzzled as all the Minis in front of mine were RHD but my Mini built in Seneffe was of course LHD. When he opend the passenger door there was noone. He had to crawl into the car and asked me were I compete with my Mini. I do not remember what I stumbled but it was something of the Belgian hillclimb championship, some rounds of the VLN and Special Touringcar Cup and so on.... I was glad when I could leave the stage again...

So this is the end of my view through the lenses of nearly two decades of Minis & Motorsport.

I left out many pictures i.e. of all the pics I got from Richard Newton, from 1969 to the end of Wooding in Hamburg the race manager, at that time very famous for their racing Minis and later the Escorts. These pics are on my homepage as are the pics when Léon and I visited the Abingdon Ex-Work-Car-Show in 1998.

Isn't it funny, all united in the interest of this tiny car!

And I ended up buying this and bringing it back here! Ex Janspeed Unipower GT. Those old mag Revo wheels are now in the ‘Oil Can Cafe’ in Holmfirth!

When I photographed it it carried the Belgian National Racing Yellow colour. What does it look now?
