Speaking of Frank Williams, here he is with Iso Rivolta's new owner Ivo Pera during the period of their partnership in F1...

ISO IVO PERA & FW.jpg

One of their drivers was the delightfully named Howden Ganley, which sounds more like the name of an obscure English village that that of a big bloke who likes driving very fast...

Howden Ganley was one of the first employees of Bruce McLaren in 1964. They met back in New Zealand whilst racing there.

He has appeared in a few F1 documentaries over the last few years.

Is this Monaco?
Possibly, although the Innocenti Mini has Milan plates.
The Opel Rekord plate is Monegasque, so I think it is Monaco, possibly on the hill between Casino Square and The Mirabeau.

Bruce is taking exception to you taking his picture Stu!

I do like these (off topic!) motorsport images of old, this is one of my favourites from Le Mans in '70, the 'hippie' 917 which really captured my imagination as a kid...

The Martini Hippie scheme was used on two 917s

The version you have shown 917 LH Chassis No. 043, that only appeared at the 1970 Le Mans in that scheme. It was painted white soon after.

Image

And then a 917 K, chassis no 012 that had a longer race career. Appearing at Hockenheim first, then the 1970 Watkins Glen 6 Hours

Image

After one more race in green and purple the car scheme changed to yellow and red. Here it is at the 1970 Kylami 9 Hours

Image

Eventually the car ended up wih David Piper and was painted in his team colour of green.

I guess we should get back to some Mini content!

Here's Susan George whilst filming All Neat in Black Stockings.
