Pete,
Happy to discuss this subject. Nothing wrong with things changed for a reason as I have done many times. In regard to the car we are in discussion about which is listed as a 1071 cc Cooper S my point is this: - The 1071 cc cars had the control box at the rear of the bulkhead stiffener to accommodate the remote brake servo. The 997 & 998 Cooper had the control box in front of the bulkhead stiffener which this car has? Dry cars had the box located horizontal and wet cars had it located vertical.

It perhaps would have been more crafty to have not shown repro chassis , and after all that restoration work he must have known the regulator was not in the correct place?

Nick, I think a lot of people enter into rebuilds of Minis (Coopers?) to make quick money thinking the country is awash with fools. The Mini world is the last place you should visit as we all know. This car in discussion the first thing I missed was the remote brake servo, wrong located control box and it appears to have no rad cowl?

It can't be a great job when 30 secs looking at the sellers own images can conclusively prove that its a wrong un. No doubt some fool will buy it though.
What do people think about the brakes?? The Cooper offset wheels don't seem to sit where one might expect them to if there were S discs???
Cheers, Ian

Ian,
I think this car has not got the Cooper S brake assembly fitted as with this width of wheel they should sit outside the front guards by about half an inch.

I remember my 64. I put s brakes on it, refitted my reverse rims and promptly took them off again, dug out a set of dunlop D1s and put them on, which were marginally less silly looking.
That car is not running S offset brakes.

I wonder how long it will be before it gets a white & green paint job?

Question posted re the Malteaser.
This car appears to be fitted with Non Cooper S front brakes. Please can you confirm if this is or is not the case? Also, please can you tell me what happened to the original chassis plate as the one in the listing is an incorrectly engraved replica. I hope to hear from you soon. Mark F

as a four door?
it will be a Cortina version of an East Hull xr3i / cosworth (they always had four doors 'back in the day')

I don't recon the 5 door ever looks right with the green flash
A mate of mine just imported a white 2 door 1500 gt for £10.000+shipping etc .absolutely rust free ,30.000 miles.that new ones nice but not very desirable, for me

5 Door???
To me it has 4 doors and a boot (trunk if you are from the colonies)
5 door implies access to the passenger compartment I thought.

The only acceptable cars with 4 doors are Mini Travellers. All other cars with more than two are just a means of transport.

Pretty Mk1 Mini Cooper for sale... probably the prettiest of the Cooper 'family' to run and maintain!
This car is not concours but is solid and clean. It has been off the road for 30 years and was recently recommissioned.
The car is fully driveable – ALL its registration/body/engine numbers match.
Match what? The colour won't match the Heritage Certificate as it was originally Smoke Grey/OEW
Now take a look @

So, could the 1071 ad could be a scam? Asking for 50% of the asking price up front that does seem a bit fishy.
