Interestingly on the Historic Vehicle paperwork (on the owner's website) it looks to be Teal Blue in the photo. Also states that the car was fitted with a Newton Interior so you were right!

This car is Portuguese built, as 99% of the 1275 Gt's available here.
That is clearly visible in the chassis ID ending with an 'S' , which denotes Setubal ( the plant location ) .
For sure in 73 the rev counter would be a 6k redline one...
Regarding the central ignition key, i've never seen it combined with a Rod Change gearbox , but i am not sure when column ignition was introduced.

We always used CKD kits , if in the mid/late 60s only a couple of components were locally made ( EG: seats ), with time more local components were incorporated ( Seats, glasses, wheels i believe, etc )

Spotted in the At The Auction Thread, and posted by BigWig, is this 1976 GT at Mathewsons. I thought I'd post up the video so that everyone can see the details of what appears to be a very original '76 GT. Hopefully Mathewsons will leave the video up after the auction as it is a great reference for anyone restoring a mid '70s car

YouTube videos can be downloaded using known tools should you want to keep it for future reference. Obviously there are copyright requirements to be observed.

Can i ask the question of where the Front Grill "GT Badge" should be positioned as certainly Leyland adverts show that GT Badge located in differing positions ..

The most common placement is to the lower left of the grille. But as there is not a fixed point then the actual position can vary.

Just to be shure, what is the colour of the original steel 10" rims ? And are the centres the same as from the MGB ?

There is a question as to the colour of the very early wheels being a darker shade of silver grey, but most seem to be regular wheel silver in colour. Also all British supplied wheels were all over one colour, unlike the Firsat wheels fitted to Innocent cars and the Fergat wheels fitted to late Authi Mini Coopers.

I think the centres are the same as MG Midget

The MG Midget RoStyles - like the MGB - had the centre details picked out in black.
As Stuart says, the 1275GT 10inch wheels were silver all over

You have to be careful with old RoStyle wheels. (The RO stood for Rubery Owen who supplied them to Ford, Vauxhall and BLMC). Iirc, the chrome wheel nuts had a different taper to regular Mini ones and so the taper in the wheels was different. Many were fitted later on using standard wheel nuts and that buggered the wheels. Refit the correct chrome nuts and they would not grip the now-misshapen wheel holes, resulting in the wheels trying to fall off.

It's 30 years since I hast had a GT though. Could be wrong.
