I have an entry for Shelsley so I've had to make a decision , disappointedly, due to lack of time and funds available I will have to go down the plan b route with my head problem.
I've had the standard head rebuilt with the exhaust valves from the race head and the standard inlets, fitted it and it runs ok, been out and done a few miles and it performs shall we say, errrr ok
It dosnt rev out as well and dosnt want to rev comfortably over 6, but I'm running standard springs and rockers so I will drop the red line from 7 to 6
It pulls very well low down, still plenty of torque , so I'll have to change gear quicker and hussle thru the corners !
Also fitted a high torque starter, amazing thing !
The old starter packed in when the clip that fastens the release bearing pad on the clutch cover came off and decided to dance round the flywheel housing and jammed the starter !! , apart from putting a groove in the alloy clutch cover everthing else seems ok !, anyone else had this happen ?
So other bits and bobs to do as always and looking forward to Shelsley

I'm glad to hear that you are up & running again, all be it not in 100% trim.
I went onto pre engaged starters on my competition cars a few years ago & have never looked back since.

Well due to work commitments that's my season done this year, there is an event at Harewood I fancy on Sunday 18th September, but that all depends how September builds up with new car registrations with my car sales job, and if I do it, it will be a last minute thing, just using the car as it finished Shelsley.
So apart from the head problems, and me dicking around with the gear lever the car has run faultlessly and very competitively in the four events its done.
For next year I would love a bit more power, i don't think the head i've used from build was suitable, as the standard one performed brilliantly with Metro rockers and standard springs, only losing a few top end revs once pushed, so need to replace that, a 4.1 diff would suit the hills better, and it really needs the suspension setting up properly, the rears have mega toe in, the fronts have never been tracked perfectly, seems to change everytime I check it, but now its settled a bit it gives me a better start. The events i've done so far didn't need seats in the back or a passenger seat, so i can lighten it a little for those events next year, But i want to stay true to a road car look really.
Total build and events pics now up to date !

My lad passed his driving test last week, so i've been tinkering with his first car , sorry its a Bini !, good fun though, 1600 petrol early one, in Red, quite emotional really, he's been with me every step of the way when we bought the Silver Mk 3 for Blyton in 2014 and the Mighty Mini in 2015, and helped me build the "60", he's sat in with me on each of the 3 we have done, not sure yet if i'm brave enough to let him have a run at Blyton in the "60" , lets see, maybe the parade lap !

Any way back to the Mark 1 !
, 76 days till Blyton !, got a cylinder head coming to replace the standard one I used at Shelsley, fixed my indicators and need to change my brake light switch that both packed in after 4 events !
Would love to get it corner weighted and the suspension set up correctly, the rears have a awful lot of tow in, and the front is purely a guess, i have to order some KAD rear brackets and see how I get on, anyone any ideas who could do it for me within a couple of hours of the lake district ?, or a fool proof way to set it up well ?

Cylinder Head on at last, week taken off prior to Blyton for some fine tuning, MOT and with Harewood and Barbon looming closely behind a couple of tweeks to the car seen as it hasn't moved since last July
but yet again my times been taken up with my son's obsession with Binis, another car on the drive !, a genuine Cooper S mind !

Ahh well, at least it's got an air bag Steve, every cloud!
Look forward to seeing KEC at Blyton again, not sure my car will be ready in time sadly. Terry King can set your suspension at Littleborough but I'm sure there's somewhere closer?
