Re: Just a nice period picture
They are ugly but I'd rather go to a show full of cars like this than a collection of identical restored S's with old farts going on about how they have the correct dated exhaust rubbers and period hose clips!
Probably surfing.

The 1970's. The decade that taste forgot.
When all the men looked like the Yorkshire Ripper & all the women looked like Margot out of the good life.

1970s, London street scenes....doesn't look too bad to me compared to what you see on those same streets today.

Hum, each to their own I guess.
I also assume that Shampoo was only discovered in the 1980's

Before you think I am picking on the 1970's unduly, I also hated the 1980's.
But at least grooming products were a thing by then

Re: Just a nice period picture
Mark,
If you didn’t like the 70s you’ll hate this: 1975 meeting of our early Mini club when as a 19 year old I thought I could do a better conversion than W&P!
1430 S with Singer Vogue headlights turned on end with 5” Cibie lamp units (which confused the MOT inspector), Elf bonnet with oil cooler in the gap, modified Austin Cambridge grille, horrible front spoiler, E Type dashboard etc etc.
By the way, most blokes in the 70s looked like Margot

Re: Just a nice period picture
Can't say I have noticed much in the way of progress with grooming products or presentation in the crowd scenes at the recent Glastonbury or on the average UK high street where anything now goes.....but probably the most noticeable difference in old high street crowd scenes from the 1960/70's is the effect too many fast food outlets and cheap junk food have had on the waistline measurements of the population since then....
