It is a nice car, and sounds like it retains some of its original ( and important ) parts. Good luck with the sale

Except it is not a Cooper S but a re-shelled 998 Cooper upgraded to S spec. Tidy enough car but a bit naughty with the title of the auction listing methinks.

Looking at this ad, seams the going rate for an 850 has climbed from around £12K to over £16K!

IF they can sell it for that. Like a lot of dealers, they ask high prices and seem prepared to sit on their stock for months or years until it sells. I suppose that's fine in a rising market. It is only during a slump that business model starts to suffer.......
I think we all might agree that it would be easily possible to spend that sum purchasing and old Mini and having it restored!

How rare is this ERA with delivery mileage.

Sold my ERA in a moment of madness, and i do regret it.

There has been an apparently low mileage Mk 1 on Car & Classic for over six months at £16k. The one in the ad you mention was sold at a Brightwells auction for £10120 in May - that's some dealer mark up - and it still needs plenty of detail work sorting out so I can't see that going to a new owner for a long time at that price.

Interesting that the red Mini mentioned has boot board brackets fitted. Maybe a previous owner had ambitions for it??
The dealer selling it refers to "wider wheels" but they look standard to me?
A lot of money for a not significant Mk1 850 Mini but that seems to be what lazy dealers do now: Buy shiney cars at auctions, add several thousand pounds to them and sit on them until they sell. "Better than money in the Bank"

I see the Black Tulip Austin 1300GT with horrible modern alloys previously sold in Brightwells March auction at a (high I thought) £3400 sold for even more in this auction at £4346 inc premium
It wasn't a particularly good example so I hope whoever bought it had a good look at it first........

That looks ridiculous on those wheels, each to their own I suppose.

Yes it's mine, was competing in it at Aintree on Saturday! Went very well. Too many cars, not enough room.
