It has the appearance more of Speedwell Blue, but that was only used on the Austins wasn't it? So I reckon you're right and it is more likely Smoke Grey on balance. Must have been quite a new car at the time. Very smart isn't it

I'd say the car was nearly new and that the gearbox wasn't from that car - the bonnet is still fitted.

Great registration number. Also appears to have instruments in front of the steering wheel. Plus elf/ hornet chrome strips and Microcell or Restall seats

After looking at the Alexander stuff on the main site I am convinced this is an Alexander conversion.
https://mk1-performance-conversions.co. ... mini_1.pdf
They list most of the items as accessories, such as bucket seat trimmed to match, white wall tyres, chrome gutter trim, mud flaps etc etc

And that boot badge looks like the early Alexander insignia.

Gearbox rebuild in September 62, even if it was a 59 it would only be 3 years old!

Cone synchromesh was sketchy, especially when running in 20/50 hyper grade.

They are mostly base models interestingly - like the type supplied to District Nurses - perhaps it is a fleet sale when they were replaced?

Mini Moke in 1960's London during filming of Orlando a British television thriller series for young adults which ran for four series between 1965 and 1968. Made by Associated-Rediffusion for the ITV network, it starred Sam Kydd as Orlando O'Connor. 76 episodes were made in total, making Orlando the longest-running of Rediffusion’s children’s serials. The series finally died when Rediffusion merged with ABC to form Thames TV in 1968.
Most episodes were lost and skipped or recorded over but a few surviving clips were recently shown in the 'Footage Detectives' series on Talking Pictures TV which featured the Moke above.
