I think with some of the other cars in the pictures and a £850K Gullwing on the drive the S is probably seen as a toy with a nominal value

Even at that money I doubt it'll be there long! It does look like a good job, lot of repro though and odd there's no pics of the engine bay.

Mk2 prices are going mentaloid as well (but is anyone buying ?)
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Classic-Morri ... 339d878db5
That is going to be an expensive resto looking at the roof gutter rot and all at a starting point of £2.5K for a SDL !!
Mk2's always suffer worse for this (compared to Mk1);I heard it was down to BMC cost cutting that started 66/67 where they reduced the panel thickness in some parts of the car and applied less primer.

Haha, Was on ebay recently wasn't it. Can't remember what it sold for but nothing like that! The seller didn't even know it was a Cooper - I think he'd had the job of clearing someone's garden rubbish

What makes you think it needs to be an "S" ?

Presumably the typo in the price is the extra zero on the end, so £47.50 is a bargain

What would be nice to know is how much these advertised cars actually end up selling for !, i sold my 1071 S , which was very good on the body, correct shell / engine, detailing was a little incorrect (my choice'd modifications), but a good car in 2011 for £12000, at the time I thought it was a good price, it was later advertise at a dealer for £26000, but what would be really interesting to find out what the cars actually sell for in the end, some of these advertised prices are mental, but then again, a lot of us own Mark 1s, so all the good for us, but nearly 50k, really !

I would take all these prices with a large pinch of salt . In the real world that I live in , it's one thing advertising them for that and another getting it . I have two mk1 S and a mk 3 S in my collection and I thought it was great that all these prices were going up and up . Now I realise that were in danger of destroying a great hobby and past time . I personally know of about 3 people that take great joy in stockpiling as much original Cooper s parts as they can . They don't sell the parts ! Oh no . They just love having something witch everyone is crying out for . I wont mention names but one of these collectors of parts has complete sets of full brocade trims in bmc wrapping . All there going to do is die old men with them , crazy ! .......most of the people advertising these minis at ridiculous prices are chancer's ..... Ken

The White Cooper was on eBay and made £3500 which was expensive I thought for a log book and engine as not a lot else is salvageable! £8500 plus at least £15K restoration takes the finished car well into top 970 / 1071 money! No thanks!
