JC...

As soon i'm done with the Starter. Found out i had the wrong one. Lucas m35j starter, with 10 teeth. So right now i'm doing a complete rebuild on the correct m35g starter, and with 9 teeth instead.

That was a new one :? is the 10 teeth one also for a Mini ?

If so have I never known about 2 types :?

The 10 teeth can by used on a mini. If the flywheel ring is build for that. But the 9 teeth was normalt used.
The engine turned fine. But the starter did not Sound right. Soo took it off, and noted that there was 1 teeth too much.

The M35j starter is a more new model. And was used after the M35G.

Never heard of 2 types of the old starters, asumed all the ones before Verto flywheel were the same .

Well you live & learn 8-)

Thats what I thought too.

Actually theres differets types of the M35G starter. For example The ones with
25079H stamped in, was allocated to Triumph and MG.
The ones with the number 25083H was made for the minis.

But as you Said.. Live and learn...

Steering column is now done, and its all working. The original "paperhoses" on the heater are used, and the last hoses was fitted.

The cooler is also fitted, but damm there´s not much place for fingers, and affraid to destroy the paint. It went great, but many words my kids don´t need to hear came by in that process :?

Have gone and deeds myself a little with making the rear windows. Let me just admit it from the start , it has really been some of the the hardest job.
Thought that, it was actually piece and cake , but got smarter.

The new rubber strips was a nightmare, but went okay at last.

The windows have been divorced totally apart, and all parts have been rechromed...

The windows are in perfect condition and completely original . means they where fitted to my car originaly....

TRIPLEX windows was made from 1960 to 1969 .

Below it is explained how the date of production can be read.

A dot above the T, R , E, or X indicates the date of production.

T is Jan, Feb , March ,
R is April , May, June ,
E is July Aug , Sept, and
X stands for Oct , Nov, Dec.

To find the year, look at the word Toughened .
Each letter indicates the year ..
As mentioned, the years are 1960-69

T is 1,
O is 2,
U Er3 ,
G is 4 ,
H is H ,
E is 6 ,
N is 7 ,
E is 8 ,
D 9

As can be seen in the photo , my glasses match the date on my car .

Otherwise got it in quick succession , had to use a plastic hammer wrapped well in rags, but it worked.

Then there was a little cutting of the new rubber lists , and a few hours later, the final result can be seen . Ready to put in

Now it's not like the mini is known to be the quietest car to drive in. Although the pleasure lies in the enjoyment of driving, ill try to improve this it a little bit.
There was from the factory only a small layer over the floor, and at the firewall ....
I decided to glue a layer on all sides, and the roof to try to get a little less noise / resonance ....

That looks very neat. Did adding the layer to the roof make it difficult to re-fit the headliner?

The big day.. I´ve really been waiting for this..

Yesterday was the day where I fired up the 1071 engine for the the first time.
It need a little adjustment, but it sounds and runs great. no smoke, or bad sounds from it..

Time to get on with the next job....

From the first fire up:
