At least I'll be able to recognise you out on the road!

Are you doing the June Barbon? I'm supposed to be taking over as entry sec next year so going on a learning day....

I won't be on the hill, stuck in the timing van I think.
Although I'm only going to see what the guy does, so I'll be getting out to do some watching and yattering.

Really nice looking mini! Well done indeed!

What needles did you opt for in your carbs?

I'm running a very similar engine spec and wondering if my choice of needles are why it doesn't like to start?

First real test for the car then .......... Blyton 2016, cracking day, thanks for all the lovely comments and people taking the time to talk to me, car really does feel like its got the power that i had hoped, it really does sing, and got quicker as the day went on

My Mrs took some video on her iphone early on :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UB2sN47PQ9o

Some in car, only watch till 7.00 need a an edit !

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3R4Fz_LEKI

couple of bits to sort out, pads really took a long time to bed in, completely lost them early on and shot off the exit road, then came into the pits and there was smoke pouring off them, nearly went for the fire extinguisher  , but the brakes really do need an upgrade the standard S discs and the comp pads i got are not up to the car, and I really didnt want to push it too hard when other cars were in front of me on the corners

After the first run the car threw out some water, that was put down to the rad cap having no seal on it, thanks for the people that found me a cap and came across , temperature ran great for the rest of the day

Need to sort my breather hoses, alot of the quick cars where using the MED set up, with the big hoses

Stiffened the suspension up as the day went on, up to 7 clicks on the front 6 on the back, still abit soft, need an anti roll bar on the back, Rh rear tyre took abit of a pounding off the arch !

Jeff and Stephen from Mini Mag asked to take some pics while I was there for a article on the car in the future,

Deans "JJM" car came into join in the pics at one point, Deans car was originally registered at the garage that I used to work at in Kendal, my car has a Kendal number on it, so it was nice to have pics taken together of the two cars

Steve you car looked great on Saturday and you did give it some stick. You might want to check your offside rear for some extra grooves!

Thanks Stu, great pic, my lad sat in with me most of the day, on my last run I decided to really push it on , on my own and yes that RH back tyre suffered , just set it to low, it's still to soft on the rear too, think an anti roll bars defo needed after seeing that pic !

I watched your in car and its a flyer.

What I was wondering is, how are your 0032s on a 4 1/2 rim. Does it rub the inner rear arch at all?

Cheers :D , Not on the inner, but the outer arch took a lump off the tyre :o , but it was running far too low to be honest, and the suspension needs setting up, needs an anti roll bar for track use, which is all in hand 8-)

I've had trouble with A008s rubbing the inner arch on the standard rostyles. The 0032s look a little narrower at the tread but seem to have a softer sidewall. Wondering if I could get away with them on the minilife rims I have.
It does look like your motor wants to go alright. Have you a LSD?

Must have been half asleep this morning, sorry, im running A008s at the mo, only because our tyre wholesaler we use at work had a deal on them !, no LSD, just a twin pin diff, its not getting the power down at the mo with being so soft, but all OK for first run, going to mess about with the suspension ready for Harewood in the next few weeks

the rear arch just starting to groove the tyre !, nothing left of the chrome trims underneath !, but I haven't had the wheels off since I got home, so ill best check !

my experience of both a008's and 32rs when used hard on a 4.5" rim is that the 32 will rub more than the a008, if you pump it harder to stop it tucking under it will just go off quicker - I used to be able to destroy 3 out of 4 32'sin a 20 qual / 20 race. they used to chunk like crazy

That's what I suspected rich, even softer sidewalls.

Busy June coming up, 3 events in 8 days, entries in for Harewood on the 4th, Cholmondeley PAS on Friday 10th and Barbon Hillcimb on the 11th

Bit of work done on the car, i've heightened the car slightly, trying an ARB on the rear, Carbon pads and i just need to run some competition brake fluid through the system, fitted a number plate on the front and some back seats in ready for the road car class for Barbon, also fitted one of Tims (mini mail) rear towing eyes.

Re-did the engine breather system, fitting a breather to the top of the breather tank (thanks to however it was spoted that at Blyton) and also in the process of fitting a plate over the speedo hole, to make it fireproof.

ive tried the car up the road but it gives you no idea what it will feel at speed on the track, so will see how things differ under stress
