Give the seller a bit of slack chaps. He has made a bit of an effort and put Cooper badges on it

A mate has seen that up close, let’s just say any serious bidder will need to do the same!!

That could be quite a nice car after a decent restoration

The words
iconic and
discerning have been used. It must be good.
The logbook should show two postcodes, one for the body shell and another for the bootlid.
It's got the bones of a car but there's a lot there to put right.

lots of details not quite right, as we all know, ultimately a car like that gets its value from the details...

Most little details are easy to put right though, not everybody is that bothered about ashtrays, bodywork not so much!

To be fair the boot gap doesn't look bad to me .
Just for reference I live exactly 11.5 miles from duxford

Looks like.someone had winched it onto a trailer and put a small kink in the front panel.

Didn’t get a single bid, probably because the auctioneer started at a lofty £25k. I don’t think sellers are adjusting their expectations at the same speed that the market is dropping.

Must admit I did suspect a big drop in prices when auction lots were labelled "No reserve." Maybe the auction houses are suffering a drop in their revenue stream from commissions? Also perhaps a lack of accurate descriptions of the item being auctioned.
I suppose it also depends on how much was paid for the auction item or how much the vehicle cost to restore?
Maybe now is the time to pay for a storage facility and grab a bargain if the seller needs the money? If, of course you have surplus funds.

The bootlid and at least one of the doors are Heritage panels aren't they?
It can be really difficult to obtain decent fit using their panels
I seem to recognise that car.....Hasn't it featured on these pages before?

Yep whilst id agree it’s now a buyers market I’d be wary of any expectation that it’ll ever recover to its previous buoyancy! If at all! Any investment into prospective ‘bargains’ with a view to a profit later down the line should be viewed with immense caution, great time to pick up a keeper though!

Along with the bonnet touching the n/s wing at one point and has gaps in front and behind where it is touching

Isn't the front panel wrong ? also looks like someone has been firing an airgun at the NS door pocket

It is probably one of the poorest restorations I have seen in a while. Contrary to its fan-fared description, quality of work is very poor and attention to detail is non-existent. It would be reasonable to question the mechanical side too, based on the rest of the car, therefore, not even worth considering as a general driver. No wonder there were no bids.

Auction houses and some dealers will literally say anything to get a sale. I reckon if you claimed your car was found in a barn on the moon by Paddy Hopkirk they’d publish it. I’ve read some very spurious descriptions recently about some highly questionable cars, it just gets worse not better.,
