This Alfa passed me twice? On the A46 in my Landcrab coming back from Blyton.Pete wrote:By the way, for those that didn't know the chap at the end of the video chatting with the lads and driving off in the Alfa is Will Dick , who was John Rhodes' mechanic, racer in his own right and former owner of KDK 320F. Barely got a chance to have a good chat other than about Team Charles Clark, Ian Mitchell etc. Bob Fox also came and introduced himself, there just wasn't enough time was there folks?? Sadly Anita Taylor went on the Monday by mistake but is coming to the next one.

Re: MK1 Action Day
Thank you for the nice comments, and thank you Mark for the upload to make it viewable to all countries.
The talented chap is Thomas Moreau -> https://www.facebook.com/pages/TM-PROD/541829479178675
Nice to hear that the alfa owner is Will Dick, he stopped his Alfa to say that Nicolas's car was very impressive on the track and sounded like a beast !

Hi Pete,
Yes I heard something mentioned somewhere that a twinney was built but cannot remember where.
Possibly Australia I thought for some reason?

Sorry we didn't get to park your 1800 somewhere better, next time we're having a classic car corner.

I'm sure she made the papers when she put that car on it's roof. The story as I remember it was that all she was concerned about was A. whether she'd marked her face. and B.where her handbag was I'll find out as I'm interviewing her shortly.

I know you pervs go on about cristabel carlise, but anita taylor has always been my favourite lady racer from the 1960's
theres some great articles about her in the autoport mag - they obviously really liked her as well, she must have been pretty media savvy as well

Re: MK1 Action Day
At the end of the day car companies were/are in the business of selling cars and if they could snap a 'racy' lady in one of theirs then that's bread and butter to their marketing department. I don't think it was so much her being media savvy, if anything it was BMC's loss that she stopped racing Minis because Ford were not so behind the door when it came to marketting and snapped her up straight away to drive Anglias. Not just a pretty face she was a talented driver , put it this way she beat her brother Trevor a couple of times in the Minis and he was a Lotus F1 driver! His story is also an interesting one, another great talent, a Formula 1 driver from Yorkshire with Hollywood looks that partnered Jim Clark and was a much overlooked talent that never got the breaks. I do remember him saying once that Chapman's cars were death traps, but that's another story.
James Palmer (Newtune on here) has got her old racing Cooper S which was sold on to Newtune as some will know and we're aiming to get them together. JK offered me that car yonks ago and I turned it down (didn't know it was hers then!).

Re: MK1 Action Day
Yes 110 NNM, originally the Aurora Gear team colour of bluey/grey (similar to Smoke Grey) with a crimson stripe over the top. Anita's Austin Cooper S (110 NNM) had a yellow painted front panel and Trevor's had a red painted front panel (his wasn't registered as far as I know). The Aurora BMC (sports prototype using Mini subframes and a 1071 engine, later 8 port and later bought by Mick Clare) was painted the same team colours, as was the VW splitty flatbed and trailer.

It doesn't look like most of us took cameras (well I did but didn't use it ) but has anyone got a photo of the lovely Bronze Mk3 'S' on the campsite? Or any of the 'early' cars lined up on the paddock road?
Cheers
