Actually, having looked again, I think that Jay's rims are right for your car. They seem identical to the ones on this S&A Sprint and the profile of its wings matches yours exactly.

Hi Minisprint,
I'm restoring this mk2 Cooper S W&P shortly with the same lights. I have a pair of new chrome bezels if you run into trouble and with a bit of luck I might have a pair of head lights in a few weeks. Cracking car! Looking forward to seeing the resto.
Cheers
Nev

Hi Nev, have you "relocated" or are you just "posting" from down under ?

These are the surrounds that I found in the car. The top one has been butchered possibly to fit a slightly different size of lamp. The bottom one is scraped and dented and also discoloured where it looks like someone has taken an oxy-acetylene torch to get the retaining screw out.

They are the correct ones 8-)

Any half decent body repair man can easely make & weld those missing bits back in, and straighten them, before rechroming.

I believe the S&A Sprint lights are Panhard sourced, Cibie made them.
You can find them on their CD models and they come up for sale on ebay.fr or leboncoin.fr regularly and for normal prices.

I'm sure I've seen a photo or two of modified Lotus Europas with the same (or very similar?) light units fitted, with and without the chrome rims on.

P 404C, headlamp chrome ring for Cibie long range headlight in the radiator grill. Peugeot 404 Cabrio + Coupe starting from 1966?

That looks very likely!

Could we have solved another mystery.

Still, I wouldn't fancy finding too many of those lamps & rims available now.

Its an apple thing. Apple does a clever trick where it labels the pictures taken with an ipad or iphone with a tag that tells the device displaying it which way up it should be. Trouble is, only other apple products understand the instruction.

Geoff Thomas said the bought them from "the Cibie man" who called in at the garage - but he didn't know what they were off. The Panhard looks to be the only one with the double filament lamp so that must be them. Good discovery!

A friend has some brand new Pug 404C driving lights which are the same thing with single filament bulbs. But he also has a 404C so didn't want to part with them.

There were fitted to a road going Poclain digger in double filament as well - but they had black rather than chrome rims. Might dip the right way though?

Nice to see Dave still has the car - it is a terrific thing I would die for! Cool being in that movie!
