You have to remember that 99.99% of the public would consider only 'sad anoraks' would point out the make of tyres and model of Mini used in a film was not exactly correct.

Absolutely, it's a Hollywood movie not a documentary ! There were absolutely loads of inaccuracies in that movie, locations, vehicles, circuits, even scenes like Hunt beating up a journo, you name it, (Yoky tyres comes quite a long way down the list !) and some of it came across quite clunky, silly and twee (especially the Hesketh section) but the sight and sound of those cars, the cinematography and the overall story made for an enjoyable experience. Had it been more accurate it'd have cost twice as much and 99% of the public wouldn't have known the difference, plus most the audience would have glazed over half way through. I'm still amazed and pretty impressed that any serious Hollyood director even had a go at that story.
