With the amount of fiberglass in your garage I'm surprised you've not already got a rash :P

That car is probably the reason for me being such a petrol head today.

My bruv later found out the next owner had an 'incident' on the Thanet way,he was breaking heavily before one of the roundabouts and the engine and gearbox mounts gave up - the whole lot slid forwards and the propshaft detatched from the gearbox and entered the car. He didn't say anymore than that ! :?
...Have to say the 1971 pic is brill....!the look/design of marcos cars from the 60,s onwards made for example my dads triumph Dolomite look like Fred Flintstones mode of transport by comparison....let alone the huge powerfull engines some models had....the more i think about it only the Stag came close for the look......foxy52

Fibreglass cars are hugely expensive and time consuming to do properly, as I know to my recent cost :o

its no joke, my skin has decimated me the last nine months, ive hardly done anything in the garage as the slightest thing sets it off, the skin specialist thinks that it could be the grp dust / chemicals that made it all flare up & a combination of problems from my time in hospital after my crash

before Christmas I started to think I had ebola or something it got that bad! I couldn't even walk - horrid

as an example, I split the tiniest bit of brake fluid on my hand last night, within 10 minutes my hand looked as if I had had a combination of nettle stings and wasp stings

I haven't touched any of my grp projects for months (bar the gtm) - its rubbish

My mate has one of those sat rusting on his folks drive. Sadly he will not sell it to anyone ever and it will rot and rust and collapse in a heap. Best handling TVR according to legend. I almost bought a Grantura 2a with a RV8 about 13 years ago for £2k. Didn't because it wasn't "right". In hindsight, it would be worth a fortune now. (When I say rusting, I mean chassis tubes and fuel tank).

Wow a 2a with an RV8,that sounds suicidal. They had the old VW torsion bar setup and used to RW steer with an 1600 B series lump in !!
The most disconcerting thing about that S1 Vixen above is that he's embarked on a full resto!! The semi rat look is what does it for me,I would have done essential chassis/running gear repairs then just run it as is. Then tune the crossflow ... or look for a 289 Hipo
Each to their own of course

My pal has 3 vixens: a Series 1 like the one pictured, 2 S2s, and also 2 M series 1600s as well.

Aparently they can accumulate.

2 other pals have a S2 each, and live in hope that theirs will also multiply in the same way.

Nice (replica?) Halibrands on it too

Al

Ok one more post on 60's Tivs then I'd better button it. Getting a bit off-topic. This is ace fun,if it don't get your juices flowing then there's no hope for you. The sky blue Griffith has a totally trick lump and should have 'been in a different postcode' apparently !!

I had a half share of a Griffith 200 once. £250 worth. It would overheat as soon as you looked at it but it would do 70 in first

Oh the (production length) dreams; Chassis number was GB0000007

Thanks guys. It's a G reg, one of the last wood chassis cars. Compare the sills with those on the steel chassis red car earlier in the thread and you can see the difference. I bought it in 97 with 11 months MOT and a mass of problems in the wood. So we brought it into the workshop and removed the body from the chassis, then removed all mechanical parts and separated the panels till we were left with a pile of soggy plywood.
Then we started the reconstruction with new ply. I have a full photographic record of the work we carried out, but as these are stuffed into a photo wallet I would need to scan them into the computer.
We rebuilt the V6 with a reprofiled cam giving a bit more duration, and then mated a Rover 5 speed gearbox to the engine. We fitted an oil cooler and an XR2 radiator. The interior was revamped by the dad of one of my employees. I could go on but this thread has now been truly hijacked.
It's a bit of a bugger to drive as the ground clearance is so low and backing out of my drive is hard enough with the low position and the lack of visibility. Coming out forward is even harder with the long bonnet.
However, it turns heads when I do drive it!

Please excuse my ignorance but is that a Lotus Elite.

Many years ago I helped a neigbour replace the engine in his Elan (I was about 17 I think) my reward was a ride of about 10 miles, that memory is still fresh, made a huge impression and my first ride over 100 mph, awsome.

3 2 1 - you're back in the room. So what do we think this mini Marcos is worth?
