There's a Mk1 Escort race car, a 1972 Porsche 911 race car, a 1981 Porsche 911 road car, an Austin Healey Sprite road car, a Reliant Scimitar road car, a BMW 2002 rally car, a BMW e21 road car, an Alpine GTA road car, a Mini Marcos race car (first one built in Ireland), a 1963 Mk1 Mini road car, a 1931 Austin 7 hillclimb car, 5 Miglia type racing Minis...and my Mk1.

Oh...and 2 spare Mini shells!

Update!

Turned out the shell needed a lot of hours put into it so painting took longer than expected...but I'm very happy with the result

Colour is Island Blue with a black roof...really happy with the choice! Will get some better pics during the week.

I liked the idea of painting it the original colour and your idea of the black roof was a great one. There are hardly any cars with this colour combo from what I know, so your car will be one of only a few if you go the same route!

It looks so good. I have never seen this colour combo before. I might just go island blue on its own though, even more controversial.

Might make it to the camping weekend but think I'd be trailering it up. It's going to have a straight cut 3.9 crown wheel and pinion and no carpets or sound deadening

Wow...long time no update!

So, have been busy over the last few weeks.

Underside of car completely stonechipped and painted blue. Subframes all built and fitted. Lots of other small bits done too!

Pushed it out of the workshop for the first time in a while and took some snaps too.















Next on the list is plumbing in brake lines and finishing off polycarbonate windows.

Also having second thoughts about going to hardcore with the car. Original thinking was full on race engine and box as the plan is to do track days and the odd race...but now I'm thinking milder cam and standard box so the car is nicer on the road. Will have to think a bit harder!

How have you mounted the seat belts ?

The rear strap is bolted through the rear bulkhead with a spreader plate in behind for now.

Will be adding a proper harness bar shortly though!

Looks like you dd the same as me, and fixed the belt through the hole at the base of the bulkhead. I think it's intended to take a piece of wire which is part of the seat back?

You can see the captive nut / spreader plate at the base of the fuel tank, and (just) the other in front of the battery.

The base of the rear seat back is a fairly strong bit, unlike the top!
