Dislexic for the spelling issues and grammer but got a lot better
I'm not lazy at spelling just words confuse me

Look at Vortz to see what can be done with small carburettors, I'm not going into the technical ins and outs of what is needed here, but they as Speedwell believed border line carbs produced faster cars. Speedwell loved modified 1 1/8 as well. Vortz were always a size down for the same maximum output of others, and I'm prety sure there mentality of modify it first before we dismis it would apply to a single 1 1/4 on a 1000 as well.

Twin HS2s can cope with just about any engine spec, was at a hillclimb event few weeks back and speaking with entrant running a 1380 full spec Oselli motor with 286 scatter pattern cam. Last year he was running twin HS2s using Maniflow inlet manifold, can't remember the hp but his times were very good. Probably 100+ bhp at flywheel.
Main restriction on the standard single HS2 is likely to be the standard cast iron manifold, replace this with a decent manifold and it should work well for a 998. However as other posts have pointed out it is probably easier to go for a HS4 as decent manifolds for this are easier to obtain.
