You get bumptious people in all walks of life I think, especially of a certain age and you can't get on with everyone but I'd never class Don in that bracket. This is all getting a little personal and 'washing laundry in public' for my taste.
Over and out.

Ok. Enough is enough! Why have a go at a one make club (query MCR or any other club for that matter?) when the car in question is a Mini 850 (with replacement engine). Mark please remove this thread as it is not appropriate and worth further discussion. I have no idea who the originator of the thread is but it seems to me totally inapproriate for such an excellent forum.

I don't know what a v5 is and really don't care. I have just one thing to say, and I've seen it so many times before...
One never gets a second chance to make a first impression!.
This seems to be the case here.

Agreed. What an overdramatised pile of crap this thread this thread is. Would be better suited to the bin. I left primary school years ago and cannot believe that this kind of tittle tattle continues after age 11. Please lock this thread and use the space for something interesting. Mark

I'm not sure I would go so far as to suggest locking the thread, but marking it with "RANT" might do the trick. I guess everybody is allowed one occasionally.

i would not call the problem overdramatised.Brooky has a fair point and he has made his view. His rant has got the response he wanted.I do think the MCR are a wee bit too harsh on this issue and need to talk to brooky off site to resolve the problem. I do now think this will happen and it will now be put to bed. But on the flipside maybe now the MCR might look at their processes for validation of older minis and taking onboard parts have been changed throughout its life and there is nothing you can do about it . They should accept this fact providing the parts that have been changed whether it's a simple date'd wiper motor to an engine assy are within scope and recognise that brooky is like the rest of us trying to keep his ole classic mini on the road without any problems and good on him.

I have never known an aplication to have been turned down on the basis of an incorrect engine number. The MCR adheres to guidlines set out by the DVLA when it comes to authenticating a car, therefore to suggest that the procedures need to be changed is probably a little misleading.
I have emailed Don Farr for details on this application, but he is away at the moment, so I can't shed more light on this. When he returns I am sure we will see a resolution to this.
In the meantime to make personal comments about Don is, I think, unacceptable. To lambast the MCR on the basis of this one sided account fall into the same catergory.

There have been a number of very unhelpful & unnecessary comments made on this thread, despite me having done my best to cool the situation.
I do not feel that anything constructive will be achieved by endlessly chewing over this matter here. I hope that Brook does manage to get his issues sorted out & look forward to seeing the car in question back on the road. I do not however want to read any more on the saga or other peoples personal opinions on what has already been written. It should be dealt with as a confidential matter between him & any club he asks to support his V5C application.
I have therefore taken the decision that this thread should now be locked.
The MK1 forum has never been a forum where personal slights & axe grinding has gone on to any great extent. I do not want it to proceed in that direction now.
I sincerely hope that both parties involved can get together & sort out any differences they may have in private!
