Re: Morris Cooper 1071 'S' AKY 188B
Body shell has now been removed from my garage so my brush can have a well earned rest
Hopefully there should be some updates really soon as the new panels start to go on. New floor first then boot floor and seat pan...bye bye hard earned folding stuff!!!
Tim.

No Steve. The shell has been stripped and is sat waiting. I must say it looks pretty sorry for itself at the mo. Got a new bulkhead lined up along with a complete new floor. Roof panel will go again as will the rear quarters and back panel. parcel shelf and rear bulkhead are ok but everything else will be new metal!!

Coopertim hope all is well
My 190 gearbox is almost complete.
Sad sad slow progress.
I sourced a perfect set of S gears from another box but still needed to buy these bits.
1 CHM172 first motion pilot bearing
1 AAU 8424 outer support first motion bearing w/ race
1 AAU 1365 double ball bearing third motion shaft
3 22 G 2033 Rover synchro rings
2 GUG 705567 GM side cover gaskets
2 88 G 302 3 synch idler bearings
1 22 A 610 3/4 shift fork
1 22 A 611 1/2 shift fork
1 2 A 3709 roller three synch first motion bearing
1 22 G 189 gear lever bush remote
1 AAU 2304 speedo drive seal
1 13 H 577 shift rod seal
2 DAM 5071 spider thrust
2 88 G 396 lay shaft bearings
6 2 A 3647 shift hub detent springs
2 22 A 1566 HS bolt seals
2 2 A 3502 diff shift rod bushes
1 DAM 4000 loc tab
2 AHU 1856 diff side ball bearings
1 C-BTA 166 diff pin
1 GUG 708014 TS tranny gasket set
2 DAM 2377 loc tabs 3 rd motion bearing
1 DAM 6140 pinion loc tab
3 ATA 7385 crown wheel poc tabs
2 BTA 101 diff side thrusts
2 DAM 6624 diff spider gears
2 22 G 421 HS side bushes
2 AHU 1082 HS side seals
$900 US dollars and I'm broke again
I still need a 2.76 C/P.
Can't wait to assemble the 1071 engine
These things take time I suppose not to mention funds.
Coach work is my responsibility with which I can handle.

Hi Scott. Unfortunately due to the extent of work needed on AKY, I decided to let her go to a great bloke who has the funds to do the car justice. It broke my heart to let AKY go but I knew deep down that with a young family, an expensive pile of bits in the garage wasn't the way to go. I'm glad to see you are cracking on with your 1071 and that list of parts is sure to keep you busy!!
Keep the updates coming and good luck!
Tim

Sorry for hyjacking your post.
I seem to forget sometimes..
As I realize my situation is quite similar family and responsibility.
Great find and very rare and painful to let go but your a better man making such a choice.
Doing so I know something else will come your way.
Have fun Scott

As most of you know I bought this march 64 surf blue 1071 from Tim in 2011 and continued from where Tim left off mid 2012. I commissioned Tony Ennion to restore the car from North Wales and I would take on the part I enjoy the engine and box. Enjoy the following photo of the Restoration.
We start with the engine strip!

Re: Morris Cooper 1071 'S' AKY 188B
This is an interesting air box it's a cross between a 1275 and a 1071. Note the 1/2" spout is in the 1275 position and the lack of the raised sections in the base like the typical 1071 air box.

Re: Morris Cooper 1071 'S' AKY 188B
The first part to be restored was restored by former owner Nick Rodgers, the speedo. He had to use parts from a donor mk1 850 speedo. Fantastic restoration! Thanks Nick!

Fantastic work there Nev! I remember looking at that engine and thinking it would never come apart! Can't wait to see AKY finished finally!
