Sorry to be asking the same or similar question again but can you add a voltage stabilizer to a non voltage stabilized gauge? I have a ‘61 fuel gauge with the silver face which is non stabilized and a spi/mpi fuel tank with the stabilized sender. I’m not sure if there would be a silver stabilized fuel gauge available, would there? Maybe even fitted to a non mini car? :?

Many thanks,

Mark.

If they did make a stabilised silver fuel gauge it’d be very tricky to find, as the silver face finished up about the same time as the stabilised system was introduced

Or you can use the Spiyda gauge wizard to take the later signal and convert to the silver gauge

Mark 1 Peachy above. Have you ever considered stripping the silver face from the gauge and putting it onto a later voltage instrument stabilised gauge. Dead simple to do with a fuel gauge........, even easier than the temp gauge.. This sort of job would be an everyday bread and butter job in an instrument workshop

Hello Peter, thanks for your reply. I had thought this might be an idea I need to look into. Would any mini fuel gauge after ‘64 be voltage stabilized?

I think so, yes. But be careful when handling or stripping the gauges. We found that the pointer/needle cheap Smiths gauges had a tendency to 'jump-the-track'.
