Re: A small update
I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Electric Classic Car folk leave the paperwork / registration issue up to the registered owners so there may well be inconsistency from that point of view.
I very much doubt that the DVLA get their info from watching the telly (though they may well get queries / comments sent to them by viewers) so that may explain why not all the vehicles shown have been updated. I suspect less will bo going ahead with the conversion for a while, and those that do may well leave their V5c as was.

Re: A small update
My MP sent a letter and was fobbed off with the exact reply I had had to my appeal. He has sent second letter but we don't hold out much hope as the big brass at DVLA are cocky even to MP's as they can be super smug with their job security.
My initial balanced argument had too many words to fit on the 'details' page of the parliamentary petitions page so it had to be boiled down to soundbite size bits a monkey could understand, but then it was rejected as it apparently had two points made and they can only consider one at a time!
Second petition, even more soundbited has been submitted, if it gets past the gatekeepers I will say here ASAP.
So far the only publication that has taken on the story is Complete Kit Car.
They have shown themselves to be braver than all the mainstream publications.
Bless 'em.

Thanks for the update, I thought my journal friend would leap at it - but no doubt too risky for him or something???

Re: A small update
In all honesty why would they risk reporting this as it is up there with ‘Elvis married my moon friend’.
But while all this has been going on, I have been subjected to headlines like ‘I left my girl friend for my loger!’ Which sort of adds to the despair!

Re: A small update
Well things don’t move fast!
The DVLA have fobbed off my MP twice now but fair dues, he is still asking why I can’t weld up the hole.
I have also made two attempts at getting a petition going but both have been rejected as apparently they were not specific enough. Neither my self nor my wife who is a solicitor are able to understand their reasoning or see a fault in the request other than it is only allowed so many letters and is already almost a soundbite rather than a legal request.
I will keep trying!

Cheers all
Re the companies I know, they have stopped taking on new projects. If they haven’t then ensure the final bill is only payable on road worthiness.

Re: A small update
Some mediocre news!!
The parliamentary petitions committee has further watered down my petition to remove all blame from the DVLA but have included my request for a right of appeal though removed mention of my case in particular.
So with luck it still might upset the DVLA eventually, but no heads will exactly roll, and annoyingly they won't associate it with my case (although I have all their e-mail addresses so I will be sending they the request to sign).
So as soon as I get details I will post on here how to sign it but on a short new thread.
Thanks for all the good wishes and support.
Ed

Re: A small update
Thanks Ed, not being able to let you return to standard seems pretty difficult to argue IMHO.
