Fitted the Mintex pads to my 7" discs and they are awesome!
Night and day difference over the EBC pads. Full test at Castle Combe proved these 7" discs to be very good. :D
Cheers Dan

I fitted green stuff pads to one of my cars and did over a thousand miles on them. Then on a trip in Wales on a very steep decent somewhere near the Brecons I had huge brake fade. The brakes slowly recovered again.

I find I have fitted green stuff to another of my cars which is off to the Alps so I’m just a tad anxious about those pads. Has anyone had similar issues and are these also a pad that needs to be faded before they can be relied upon. I’m confident it is not a retained air issue.

I really cooked my first set of Greenstuff pads...... I fitted a defective master cylinder which didn’t allow pressure to fully realease (not that I knew it at the time). A quick run into town showed something was up... the green painted edges of the pads had burnt black :o

However, once they’d cooled down (and the master was fixed) they worked really well.

When I had to replace them I used the brake hard/rest/brake hard/rest (rinse and repeat) bedding in cycle specified in the documentation that came with a set of pads for my Volvo. My impression is that this set is not quite as fade resistant as the set that were really abused.... But that’s not to say that I’m pretty happy with them..

Cheers, Ian

Ian thanks.

That sounds as if it squares with my experience. I’m not someone who is always on his brakes so the pads that failed had probable never reached the sort of temperature where they might improve. I just need a nice long stretch of empty road and a flask of tea and a good book to read while things cool down. Empty road is still not too difficult to find up here. You just have to keep away from the North Coast 500 and the mobile homes (mobile castles some of them).

I’ve just had a very useful chat with a technical bod at EBC. I’ve been told to leave my flask and book at home and to coast the car between bouts of heavy braking 8 to 10 times from 60mph down to 10pmh and NOT to stop. I was also told that a light car such as a Mini needs many more miles for initial bedding in before such a conditioning process. He suggested 1,000. I had better get some miles on the car!

I’ve also had fade issues with greenstuff pads , they had plenty of kms on it , and even before the fading I could never get a decent bite on 8.4 discs , went to stock Unipart pads and never had issues .

Cheers
