That y piece can get very hot, would a spot of welding not be preferable to brazing
The temp range of the brazing rod I used is 1225F to 1370F, if the y piece gets that hot
then I've probably got some other problems that are much worse

Another question. The screw that retains the new bracket. Did you drill and tap that hole to suit? I can't find that extra hole in mine!
Will be using a crown bolt to mount, that's a good as I can get with this bracket.

Good idea. I've started to use them. We call them BUTTON BOLTS. Great for saving your knuckles from the dreaded knuckle-rash! Spalding Fasteners in Fiskerton are my suppliers
