Mass immigration
Over 33% school population BAEM !!!
Indigenous population minority in less than 30 years !!!
I felt I had to check this figure against the most recent UK census of 2011. The next census details will be released in March and April 2022.
From data in this link
https://www.ethnicity-facts-figures.ser ... -ethnicity
The under 18 non white population of the UK amounted to 21% in 2011. I find it hard to believe that this has increased by more than 50% in ten years. We will know in 8 months time.

This wasn't meant to be a general criticism of Chinese manufacturing or the UK immigration policy (how did we stray onto that?). They are capable of fantastic workmanship - just not in this case.
These particular rods are £273 delivered to your door vs almost £1000 plus postage for the equivalent from Swiftune/MED.
I can fully understand why HRE wanted to test them because they represent a huge saving if you're building a race engine on a budget.
The description and images on eBay are very tempting, even showing TUV approval:

Out of interest, does anyone know how much these rods weigh in comparison to say MED or Swift H beam ?
I've never handled one of these from eBay but I did buy a set from Specialist Components (around £500) and I can't help thinking they come from a similar source. They were 6" versions with bush for 18mm pin. They were 570g each vs 410g each Swiftune - 39% heavier.
Their extra width meant that they hit the cylinder walls at TDC. I sent them back.
It's hard to part with £1000 for rods but look at these images and then tell me you can't see where the money goes.

Globalisation has moved manufacturing away from the UK to Eastern European countries thanks to the Fucking EU (new Land Rover Defender manufactured in Slovakia

)and the Far East
EU only wanted us in for our money.
They paid Ford to move Transit factory from Southampton to Turkey, even though Turkey wasnt in EU.
A few yrs ago EU brought out the Tobacco directive to cut smoking.
2 stupid rules in it.
1.--stop selling packets of 10 cigs so kids cant afford to buy them, not thinking about few kids getting together and buying a 20 packet..
2-- tobacco growers because they are classed as farmers got subsidies.
Lots more stupid rules but protesting about it did no good, our minister went over and signed the bill without telling Parliment..

Thanks for that, really interesting, begs couple of questions...
So whats standard S rod, about 530g ?
http://www.minispares.com/product/Classic/aeg624.aspx , so that makes the Chinese rods about 7.5 % heavier than even a standard rod, doesn't it ?
So 7.5% heaver and with clearance issues, where is the justification in buying a Chinese rod?
Its not as if S rods have a problem with breakages.....
EDIT: When you see them side by side, those Chinese rods do look a bit agricultural compared to Swift`s rods......

Guys, I would appreciate it if you didn't keep hijacking this technical post to argue politics.
There are plenty of other places on the internet to do that if you must.

Second that, I would imagine it might make our friends from other countries feel a bit awkward, as well

In the end its like always: you get what you pay for it!
I remember a time when people spend time in modifying rods to save weight and so, resulting in a set of beautifully crafted rod's and had a lot of fun with these in their mini engine's.
Today people believe they can buy good looking cheap parts and have a super hammer engine wich costs not even the half and then are jelling when something went wrong...

i put a set of the specialist component rods in the latest supercharged arden build, after Andy's warning some time back i knew to watch for bore clearance, they cleared but it was close! SC were the only place i could find the rods in a non s size, even the big names only listed S sizes or i would have gone for one of those. As a good benefit they clear the cam lobes on an 8 port with room to spare.

They also do a nice small-bore rod.
I fitted them in my 997. 250g each lighter than the originals!
A big reduction in stress on the crank I think.

We fitted Saenz rods in a miglia engine we built.
5 years of racing and no issues

Whilst I'm not claiming that the Chinese rods are anything fantastic, if you use them as an alternative to crappy 50+ year old standard Rods they are a pretty good buy. I have used them in 2 fairly quick engines without any issues too before now. Yes, not brilliant, but what do you expect for £250 ?
Good to see the EU bashers still can't help themselves, if you hadn't noticed, you got your way & we left. Time to move on & stop whinging!

Hoping for at least 5 years hill climbing. If you think Saenz rods look nice , you should see the Cosworth pistons.

He's got the weights down to 375g for the S rod and 385g for a Miglia now.
Interesting the photo above of Swiftys rod looks more like a Seinz rod to anything I have seen before from him, maybe he had them copied.

I quite like the idea of these from MS, little bit heavier, bit less expensive but traditional I beam look.
Never quite understood why majority of performance con rods are H beam design, is H beam easier to make or stronger, when compared ?
