I totally agree, the removal of this listing option seems pointless. After all most of the items I sell or buy are for CLASSIC CARS !!!
Lets hope they see sense soon.

I've sent them an email, I've not even had so much as an automated response yet. I see there is a topic on Retro Rides now, hopefully that will get some weight behind the complaints.

i have had a reply,
Hello Dean,
Thank you for writing eBay in regard to searching for parts for your Classic Mini.
Dean, I apologise for the delay in getting back to you. I totally agree with you as I also do not consider the BMW made Minis to be proper Mini. However, as if we include the Mark VII the last of which rolled off the production line in the year 2000, it can't exactly be termed a classic car, right? My fiend has a BRG with white roof 76, and when we search for parts for her Mini, we make sure to include the model year. Therefore, we actually rely on keywords, and as long as the Make, Model, and Year, the holy trinity of classic car parts are there in item titles, anyone will be able to locate the parts.
I hope this is helpful and wish you all the best on eBay in the future.
Kind regards,
Stevie Doyle

still does not help. i used to look under, classic car parts, mini, check what local to me then check whats newly listed, but its very hard to do this now with too many bini parts scattered in there.
fair enough the last minis that rolled off the line are not old enough to be called a classic, but its the shape, the design, and the merchanics which makes them on the same as the early ones,
this has got my back up, i have cut back how much i use ebay becuase its not accessible on what i want to see, i cant look at what i want to the way i want to, seaching under mini does not find all the all mini parts as i used to by looking at the complete mini category.
why cant they have new mini or bmw mini, and mini for the proper ones
keep emailing them, by the sounds of it its not just mini

I was already considering reverting back to the classifieds ie Miniworld for future adverts. Have you noticed in the last 6 months that their advertising sections for parts has grown from perhaps 1 or 2 items to maybe 10. This forum has a good For Sale section and if it becomes more populated so much the better. With the advent of paypal and digital photographs you are now more able to make an informed decision on an item that is the other side of the country and so this is less of a gamble than before. I suspect this change is because e bay is becoming so competitive in that you rarely seem to win anything without paying through the nose, auction costs are noticably higher and now finding classic Mini parts is becoming a drag. I daresay e bay will struggle on without me but I'll tell you where I am. I'm oot!

I hate to start off as a brand newbie on this excellent forum with a moan, but I agree with everything that has been said.
Ebay are dogmatic, unreasonable and the single most hypocritical organisation I have ever dealt with!. I am not in any way a trader, just a bit of a classic vehicle addict from cars to trucks, and over the last 11 years have clocked up about 4400 positive feedback on there.
As soon as my current for sale listings that were in the Classic Car spares section were transferred to Car Parts 'Other' the listing viewing figures fell out of the sky!. I complained to eBay, and got a virtually identical response to the one posted earlier in the thread. I phoned them, and was told that the decision had been made in my favour as a seller!. I pointed out the obvious drop in page views, but it fell on deaf ears and I got the.... "Is there anything else I can help you with today....?".
Wanted listings on eBay are another case in point.
Ebay forbid wanted adverts on their listings - period - unless they are posted in the utterly useless 'Want It Now' section that has fewer page views than the G Glitter fan site, or posted by business sellers it seems.
You post a crafty Wanted ad in the for sale section, and if you can get them to leave it on for more than 36 hours the chances are you will get offered what you are looking for. Post it in 'Want It Now' and you stand no chance.
I paid the £15 classified ad fee and put a Wanted ad on for a 1960 Morris Mini Minor (I'm looking for a project car btw) on Saturday night and it lasted less than 3 hours before they pulled it!. You type the word Wanted into the search box in the Cars/Vehicles category and just look at how many ads they leave on there from scrap dealers etc....Hypocrisy at its very best.
Martin.

Had a thought whilst making a cuppa (in my bone chine mini mug i might add)
anyone fancy doing a listing each?
List under other car parts!
Title: DEAR EBAY PLEASE GIVE US BACK CLASSIC CAR PARTS LISTING
Description
Hi
Within the last few days us classic car part nutters/sellers/hoarders and general guys who live in sheds and garages have had our cosy little world turned upside down.
Ebay bless them (this is not a dig at all, we just know classic car parts better than you do
) have removed the classic car parts listing categories recently and we are suffering already with less people looking at our junk and making it nigh impossible for our lovely customers to look for items.
If you sell on ebay we would really appreciate it if you add a copy of this listing (99p and 1 photo is free) just to get word across that we need it the way it was.
Some things are better left alone and our beloved categories fall into that category!
Please ebay lets have it back to normal
All our love your classic car part sellers
it would also need an image to share - something like a cartoon piston with a sad face
Just an idea
to make them realise the importance
