Re: Seats from other cars. What else fits?
I have to say the biggest factor in comfort is often not the seats themselves, but how they are fitted, and sit in the car.
When I bought my old camper van back it had had a set of Saab front seats in it - and I had a saab at the time, so knew they were dead comfy.
WRONG! the totally different set up between seat base and pedals made them give me horrendous cramps in no time in the camper, swapped them back to the originals and all was right again. It was obviously the stiffness in the front bolster pressing on the back of my thigh in a different way, but it was terrible.
Similarly, years ago I fitted a bucket into my mini and just couldn't get comfy, so eventually raised the back in increments, tipping it forward (sheets of wood, from memory) until it was much better, then modded the frame to suit.
I suppose a more modern seat has all these adjustments for a reason! but if fitting them into a different car with different mounts, take the time to get it right is my advice.
(says he longing to get the Moke to his house, with it's fixed seats that make a Presbyterian pew look like a high end mattress!)
