Thinking on my feet......, we're talking of vacuums here too. Without looking into it in any real depth, will/could there be a problem with creating the necessary depression/vacuum over the longer distance required for the different applications? Just a thought

I don't think the length of vacuum pipe will be an issue - especially as he can probably mount the pump quite close.
The servo in my (Rich's) GTm was under the dash and the servo hose went all the way back to the rear mounted engine - seemed to work just fine.

Current plan is shaping up to mounting the servo up under the wing, with the air breather extended by a pipe to a clean area in the engine bay.
The vacuum pump could use a long pipe as a vacuum reservoir, I may even use the exhaust pipe as the reservoir, either way it's position doesn't matter.
As I also have a few extra male to female flexible brake pipes I was thinking to use them, male into the servo, female mounted into the barrier between the wing and engine bay.

Does your project include an electric power steering conversion .. may as well use the available voltage

I actually designed a Corsa B based electronic power steering set up for my Cobra and soon after the Dax (Cobra replica) system was released and seemed curiously identical?? This is detailed on the Cobra forum site.
The Cobra had a very heavy 6.3 Chevy above the front very wide wheels, and I never regretted fitting the power steering.
I also have two Corsa B steering columns in the loft which could pretty easily be fitted to a mini but as it is the same effort to retro-fit it I had not planned to fit first time around.
It is an excellent system but the Mini steering wheel is relatively enormous and the car is super light compared to a Cobra and the tyres far thinner, so the first step is see how it is without and possibly take it from there.
It would not be speed sensitive but rather offer a constant help at all speeds so the weighing etc is unaffected.
