When the floor was fully removed, did you take measures to prevent the door openings from getting deformed or out of position? I don't see any bracing in the photos. Did you keep trial fitting the doors during the reassembly?
Well spotted re the door bracing, must admit i`ve got a bit blase about fitting these floors, this is the sixth floor i`ve fitted this way now and as you will see when the doors do go on they fit fine, i have great faith in the Minis` body structure as long as the door apertures are good, nothing will move...BUT THE BODY MUST BE ON A LEVEL FLOOR, and well supported in all four corners.
I did test fit the doors along the way too, just to make sure before welding
, however i have been doing this sort of thing for over 20 years now and i would recommend that unless you are very confident of what you are doing, always brace it to be sure.

Fantastic job!!
I noticed the remote hole and the twin tanks. Are you going to use the mini for competition? You are a very lucky man - having a car like that AND living on the Isle of Wight!!!
Cheers. Tim.

Cheers coopertim, no i`m not going to race her, i just wanted to give her that 60`s street look, i have a nice John Aley three point roll bar, twin S tanks, S brakes, and a nice little 998 Cooper engine to slot in there, i`m keeping the trim inside more or less stock (red/grey fleck) but i`m fitting a 3 pod dash with silver gauges, finished off with a period Les Leston steering wheel, only thing i`m not sure on yet is whether to go for rose petals or S rims.

That will look very nice! Rosepetals are a great looking wheel but for me, you cant beat a shiny old english white 'S' rim. It gives a fantastic period look. I thought about rosepetals on my Tweed Grey car but im going to stick with my 4.5s.
Keep up the cracking work!
Tim.

Sterling work as normal Frank. I think that the Granddaughters car is going to be a long slow haul but I'm really looking forward to doing it now. No doubt that I shall be calling for some expert advice from the guy who undoubtedly knows how
Gary.

Hi Gary, good to see you got on here alright, you will get some great inspiration from this forum, some of these guys have done some fantastic work, especially when you think that a lot of them just do it as a hobby and not for a living like i do, take a look at Matts` "race car to road car restoration" excellent stuff

The build is coming along very nicely.
Your attention to detail is very good and a useful pointer for those, like myself, who will be doing the same job, hopefully in the near future.

Frank,
Isn't it an ammeter you fitted on the left of your dash, is it ?
Thinking of fitting one in my own car.
Do you have a close-up picture ? Where did you source it ?
And how did you wire it ?
Nice built up !

very nice, going to be a very tidy car
Just one question never owned a mk1 always had mk2's and mk3's, was the choke on mk1's on the right hand side of the switch panel.

I have a original unrestored 1963 MK I, in my workshop, and it has the choke cable on the RHS of the switch panel
I also had a unrestored 1967 MK I a few months back, this also had the choke cable on RHS.
The original switch panel, for my 67 project, also has the cable on the RHS.
So I guess its the side they fitted them on.
