Welcome to the forum Giles.

I for one am very pleased that this very interesting & original Mini has found a sympathetic & enthusiastic new home.

And I am also pretty much certain that there are very few people who agree with peter's controversial comments above.

Yes, I'm with you on that Mark. Preservation has to be the order of the day with this one! Quite unique isn't it 8-)

I started this thread over a year ago, because I think it’s an absolutely fantastic time capsule of a car.
Great to see you are giving it the gentle ‘oily rag’ treatment - but also glad to see the tiger-print seat cover is no more

Still have the leopard seat covers in the boot. Austin had a lot of the extras not working so ive managed to get them working. There was an issue with the coolant system, the block is full of rust causing blockages but I have some nasty stuff to put in that might help.

Great little car and gets lots of attention.

Gummed up blocks & cooling system is pretty common. I am sure that once you have managed to rinse it through you will notice a huge difference.

I'm not recommending it, but I have filled the cooling system up with about 30% Hydrocloric acid in situations like this. You run the engine up to temp. rinse it through, repeat a couple of times & then rinse thoroughly through with water about 3 or 4 times & jobs a good'un. It works an absolute treat & frees up pretty much everything. Not great if you have an alloy water pump though

Glad to hear that you have managed to get most of the gadgets up & running again.

Glad to hear that you still have the tiger skin cover. My 850 has a lovely pair on BMC leopard print seat covers that I think look great :D

If you get a minute, I'm sure I'm not the only person who would like to know exactly what all the knobs & dials do. I have sussed most, but the circular black dial that looks like a complicated count down times defeats me.

I'm sure the hydrochloric acid trick works well. When you drain it out though, probably best to move the car off your beautifully manicured front lawn ;) ;)
