So basically this could be a MK1 or MK2 bonnet and if I can get the lip and spotweld then it will work as a MK2

Yes, add the lip and it will work as a Mk2 as long as you have the inner hinge positions on your Mk2, (an earlier post in this thread says late Mk2 Minis had the Mk3 outer hinge position)....it was not unusual for BMC/BL to introduce changes in production with some overlap of earlier/later features.Vesparados wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2024 6:25 pmSo basically this could be a MK1 or MK2 bonnet and if I can get the lip and spotweld then it will work as a MK2
Back in the 1970's I added the Mk2 lip to my Mk1 bonnet as we all wanted to update our Minis back then with the later Mk2 grille! In more recent times I have removed the lip on my Mk3/Mk4 later Minis to retro fit a Mk1 grille!

Re: MK1 / MK2 Shell differences.
I agree that the later/last Mk2's had the OUTER/Mk3 hinge positions. My very late Dec '69 had the wider hinge position.
That said, it also had several other strange features, such as the odd configuration of the boot lid......., and the Mk3 colour
