Simon, you are saying the end caps on the yokes need to be knocked off in order to push the yokes out far enough to insert the couplers (QH5000 in this case) with the engine in?

QH5000 can definitely be fitted with the engine in place. I did mine a long time [weeks] after previously bolting the engine into its mounts, and I never split either sides suspension joints.

It just takes some time and patience to rotate the yokes around each other while slipping the crucifix into place - easiest laying underneath on your back with the wheels up - front subframe on sturdy jack stands - so you can jiggle things as necessary.

Not required for the QH5000 because you can just about get the cups off and on, but easier.

I don't recall the QH5000's being that popular back then except with those who had a cheap LCB - and buying them rather defeated the financial saving of the cheap LCB.

Well I hope I can fit the couplings. The whole point of this thread describes my effort at getting original yokes that have the end caps! Wouldn't it be ironic if this whole exercise caused me to have to separate ball joints and dismantle the front suspension just to get the couplers installed.

No wonder every other yoke I have has those caps broken out!
