I shall be there in my ex-Daniel Richmond Lotus 7 Series One (948cc A Series) running in the Bugatti Owners Club handicap class (which I think equates to a bunch of old blokes in old cars..?)

Those with good memories will remember that last year we did this event & had a club stand in the accompanying car show, when we won 1st place.

I am hoping for a repeat performance this August, I have already applied for the club stand & Adam & I are entered for the Hillclimb.

I know we can't expect to have as many competitors as we did last weekend, but it would be great to meet up again & put on a really good "Mini Show"

The class to enter for the August 5th Meeting is CLASS 6C. This is a bit of an "also ran" class, but will accommodate cars with many variations & specifications.

Those attending so far are:

Hillclimb:
Adam F
Mark F
Nick W
John A
Tim E
Iain C
Rich H (Possibly in a wheelbarrow)

Car Show:
M Forster
John A
Stu (Provisionally)

Please let m,e know if you would like your name adding to the lists.

Thanks,
I would like to bring The Contessa! along for the Car Show if thats OK,
will be at Hebden Bridge on the Saturday with it! so makes for a local
Weekend.

That bike lamp may pop up on Ebay as a genuine MK1 Abington Special Tuning Downton `Light' end tuning part and could be the answer to my lack of working headlights

Yeah, bit gutted, but rightly or wrongly I kept an eye on the entry list thinking It wasn’t full and i could stick an entry in at least a month before, I’m in a position in life, work and family that I can’t book well in advance, and also I need to get one event done before I can enter another.

It’s still showing 126 entries on the website, but I understand the organisers will hold a few places back
for championship and club entries.

I’ll stick an entry in for later in the year, if anybody else is up for it , on a positive note it’s good to see hillclimbing going well with over subscribed entries, it’s good for our sport

Bollox.
Thought that I might get the car back on its feet this weekend and then bang an entry in. Like everybody has said, looking at the entry list I thought it hadn’t been filled.

It's a shame that some have missed out, but at least you are told quickly.

Unlike my experience of another well known hill last year who took my booking in April & charged my card the entry fee immediately, only to tell me I hadn't got a drive less than a week before the event, after I had booked a hotel etc. To add insult to injury it took them another month to credit my card :(

Whilst, the bookings on the site usually take a week or so to show booking at Harewood is usually highly efficient.

With the greatest respect old boy that's a good story, but very slightly not true.

Like many entry systems they take your money when you enter. Unlike other events though you don't get a confirmation until very shortly before the event, which does suck, two weeks this year :? . Yes it's not the best way to do it, I agree there but I've just recieved my confirmation as have quite a few other pigeon fanciers and whippet worriers from oop north, three of 'em off here, and a couple who've not been before as Murph did a couple of years back.

You just have to get an entry in mega mega early (like six months this time! ), something I'm not normally that good at meself to be fair.

The down side to me getting a confirmation so late is that I had to leave my entry to the last minute for Harewood, which is now full anyway so can't get an entry. :?

Or is it cos I is from the wrong side of the Pennines innit??

The “event” we are discussing is an event I’d always wanted to do, and in 2016 I did both days, I put an entry in mega early, watching the web site daily, didn’t actually belong to any invited club, and I was lucky enough to get an entry, maybe because I have an early car.

I also got an entry in 2017, but I pulled the entry once I realised the car wouldnt be ready (that car still
Isn’t ready !!)

The event was so attractive to me in 2016 was because of the celebration of group b rally cars and going up the hill behind some of my 80s hero’s, I decided against trying this year, but it would be nice that if next year they celebrate the minis 60th year as they celebrated the Cooper celebration some years ago, and a good few of us get to complete.

I was heavily involved in that so will ask the question! A Mini only class would be great!

Swerving topic slightly I wonder if Goodwood will do anything for Mini 60?

I got caught by Shelseley a couple of years ago with their online entry and immediate payment system only to be told by email less than 2 weeks before the event I hadn't got entry - too late to enter any where else and it was a championship round I was in so couldn't score any points for that - then had to wait to get entry fee back.

Prescott had a much better system - they took your paper entry form and Bank Cheque - held it in the office to until the closing date - if you didn'y get entry they returned cheque - worked a treat . . . . then they took a leaf out of Shelseley's book and bank everyone's online payment and hold on to the funds before telling you if you have an entry. The entries are always oversubscribed and preference is given to Championsip Rounds at that meeting - Membership of Club - when entry was put in etc etc
The good thing is Prescott have a soft spot for mini's and if a representation is made I am sure they would listen to an all mini class like they did for the Cooper day when 14 of us had fun and the Bugatti Owners Club Chairman loved to see all the minis back he told me - so we have a chance !

Goodwood Sprints run by Brighton & Hove MC is a possible they don't seem to be oversubscribed and it is Iconic but there is no camping allowed but there is a campsite I used that will allow tow vehicle and trailer within certain dimensions. Goodwood Festival of speed hillclimb - not a chance in hell

Just a quick one to say how nice it was to see everyone who turned up at Harewood yesterday, beautiful weather, good company & a bit of competition to keep things moving.

I had a cracking day & enjoyed myself so much I didn't even get round to checking the car show out.

Thanks to everyone who turned out, I hope you enjoyed your day as much as I did.

Adam also won his first trophy! Which was a bonus.
