Produced by Goodyear (of which Dunlop is now a subsidiary). Only issue is PVC as opposed to rubber as OE. I am going to see if the South Africans can help on Monday.

What is wrong with people they must be mad... care in the community!!! there is over 90ft of that rubbish used as diesel lines on my brothers canal barge .

Original hose can found on all sorts of cars, I have taken lengths from Rover P6's before. You can sometimes win a length by offering to replace the crusty looking piece on a car with a nice piece of new regular hose. I have also seen original hose on Rootes cars.
Keep eyes open, it turns up.

What does an original servo hose look like ? I have a mk3 original ( i think ) it's surface is like the early brake hoses. It's like a diamond chriss cross patern thats on it.
Should mk1 and mk 11's be the same or not.

whatever the hose 'looks like' you should make sure that any hose used for servos is able to cope with the pressure of a vacuum.

i had a customer at work who was complaining that his brakes where soft, then would go hard, then back to soft, he opened the bonnet and i pointed out that using heater hose wasnt a good idea for servo hose....

why not? he asked.....

he looked a little embaressed when i point out the the bit between the servo and the one way valve was absolutley flat with the vacuum, the bit between the one way and the manifold was the 'normal' shape!

we swoped it in the car park, and a quick test run later his brakes where back to perfect

You can normally remove the brand printed on a hose with a quick wipe of thinners if you just need the plain black hose.

Just my 2 pennorth, but I suspect that some of the hose featured in this thread is no where near the right stuff. Some of the OD's quoted are massive, there is no way the yellow & black servo hose used on the works cars was around 1" in diameter. It was more like 3/4". I have seen this very thick stuff & as has been said previously it is used in mines, ships & trains etc. & is a MUCH higher specification, with more layers of re enforcing than the stuff used on Minis.

Becoming obsessed with finding something with a yellow stripe over & above finding the correct item may not be the best way to proceed. It may be easier to apply a yellow stripe to a "normal" piece of servo hose.

Hi Ian,

that is the correct hose.
The Yellow striped "thing" discussed inhere, are the type used by the works in Abingdon.
To the best of my knowledge, is all servo hoses (MK I - II & III) the same (your type) .

here is a sample of the stuff i can get

the yellow is part of the hose (cast in, not painted)

there is a slight ridged look to it (the interlacing of the string in the hose)

its rated for high pressure/vacuum

its 1/2" internal (note servo outlet fitted) and the od is correct (note bypass hose clip fitted)

I saw Rich's sample last night & can confirm that its very close to the original. correct ID & OD correct marking just a bit smoother than the original.

By the way, what exactly did the holy 'yellow stripe' signify ? As this was apparently a Comps Dept item was the hose just a stronger version of the ordinary black production one or was it just easier to identify for service reasons ?

i suspect that the works teams used the yellow stripe for two reasons,

1) so that there was no confusion in the fog of a quick service, a water cooled servo would not have been a good idea!

2) the strength of the pipe, i suppose that the brakes where worked so hard that normal pipe would start to collapse - the yellow stripe is far harder and i suppose it helped them when building the cars to make sure they hadnt used normal water pipe by accident

And 3)

So people could charge hundreds of pounds an inch when people were building "Works" cars 50 years on
