I found my original minilites. They have some corrosion and guess what - yellow coming through the silver.

Yep, that'll be that zinc chromate discussed earlier for sure. A bit of research shows that the only use now is for Navy helicopters

I'll bring this old topic back to the top as it covers a few recent questions.

Thread resurrection alert..

What's the correct maroon colour for the Austin cream faced speedo surround? Is it the same as 'spare wheel brown' which is said to be RAL3007 'Seal Brown' (or 'Black Red' as I've seen it described elsewhere..)

Also, does anyone know the correct colour for the orange/red Austin speedo needle?

I have no idea on either of the above. TBH, I have never even owned one of the Austin speedo's with the maroon surround. As & when you find out the correct colour please can you add it here.

Will do - a source has suggested Maroon B is 'close' for the surround and Cherry Red for the needle.

Could do with comparing it against a spray out card or something.

I would suggest that cherry red was far to "powdery" a red for the needle. But as I say, I have never looked "that" close.

Well, I've got it in bits now and I'll go to my local paint factors and see if they can match the bits up.

I'll post the results here

Austin Cream Faced Speedo inner trim ring is RAL3007 satin.

Didn’t bring the needle but will next time I visit.
