Can't resist putting this up from Silverstone Classic last year
Jonathan Hartop with a proper face when I decided to point camera at him with this strange looking man. Not sure if he knew who it was
I talked to Basil and he was adamant to keep having the jackets made in the UK, but who knows what will happen
There was a scruffy Inno parked out the back of where we were all parked. Turns out it was Jonathan who had bought it to add to his collection of otherc Minis , Porsche, Aston etc ......as you do

Re: Dunlop rally jackets
I got a remanufactrured one about 4 years ago, £120 if I remember right. Nice, but quality not brilliant, think the original may have had the elasticated cuffs sewn to the outer sleeve, but on this it always feels like the lining in the sleeve is too big and the red is always sticking out the bottom.
It says MONOGRAM TEAMWEAR on the inside label.

Re: Dunlop rally jackets
My 1990's one had the same issue with the sleeves. As you say they probably had an elasticated cuff originally.
Re: Dunlop rally jackets
Anyone remember the Alfa-Romeo jackets they sold in Debenhams and Burtons in the early 1980s? And other things, like teeshirts and shirts?
Bought a couple of their jackets, one in light grey and one in green. Quite classy stuff, for Debenhams! Bought a couple of shirts too - very Milan/Torino north Italia styling it was.

Re: Dunlop rally jackets
I have one of these (size '40' which I'd say is a medium) I was planning to list on Ebay when I get back from my holidays - exactly as this photo - Jaybrand racewear, but it also has a Vita Logo patch next to the Dunlop one. I aquired it with an ex works rally car many years ago and have only worn it at Goodwood a couple of times.......Tedwong wrote:Was also talked to Basil about these jackets for length of time last year, down to taking size and deposit. But then, he said the production can't proceed due to licencing problem with the use of Dunlop logo?
Anyone looking for one before it goes on the 'bay?

Not sure what to ask for it, so open to offers.

I've seen that jacket before, I remember seeing the vita patch on it, have a feeling it was tied up with LRX

Re: Dunlop rally jackets
maybe we can get them without the dunlop logo - i do know some one with an industrail embroidery machine that can do a custom logo 'wink' on them
just a thought

Re: Dunlop rally jackets
I don't know if this thread is dead but it might be worth mentioning here that I have one of these jackets (a modern limited production run organised by Basil Wales about 10 years ago) for sale. Unworn, as new, condition. See "For Sale" for more details.
