You soft southerners! It looks a doddle.
If Rich did it, I think he could carry out his customary 3 point turn at the gate, or wait until he gets to the open meadow area nearer the top.
I think Kev has an entry for the Maguire at Ingliston, but I remember watching it at Doune years ago.

Many thanks for the replies and current plans for some. I should have mentioned, I am based in the South East. I usually do Crystal Palace (although I have missed the past two years) but I will be entering it again this year.
I know some demo runs took place at the Valence Hillclimb last year, so hopefully that will be the case again in 2017.
Agreed track days offer better value for money, but the car is highly strung so running it all day takes its toll. It is in period spec, so fibreglass front, roof, aluminium doors and boot lid, and its limited in capacity, so it will be outclassed but it's good fun, and often quicker than less committed 1275s etc

Pete I'm hoping to get a bit more involved this year, so fingers crossed I may be joining the gang.

Correct answer!
I wouldn't discount the odd track day. Aintree is a cracker and very fast cornering compared to Blyton. You only need to do as many laps as you want to, like Blyton, you don't have to cook your brakes (
) unless you feel the need to.
On an Aintree sprint you get four or five goes tops, and it's not even a complete lap!
I'm very tempted by Crystal Palace, but only so many events you can squeeze in I suppose!

I might be able to do an event or two, though the way things are going next year would be more realistic but you never know, always fancied doing the Shelsley weekend

Crystal Palace is good fun, a short circuit and not exactly good value for money, but I guess organising a motorsport event in a London park takes a lot of effort. Atmosphere is good though with lots of spectators in attendance.

Wanting to and actually getting my act together to get back in the car are two completely different things at the moment Tony

So of your recommendations we have settled on the following, all subject to getting an entry of course:
April 30th - Blyton Park (reserve list)
May 14th - Valence demonstration run
July 15th - Lydden sprint
July 22nd or 23rd - Shelsley Walsh Classic Nostalgia
August 27th - Crystal Palace
Here is a clip of the car from Crystal Palace the last time it was there:

And some more laidback demo runs from Lydden - the last time the car was used:

I'll check tomorrow how many are on the reserve list, I know Colin from Javelin doesn't think we should take any more. Wish we'd gone for two days now!
BUT we just didn't get the numbers last year.

Thanks Pete, that would be good to know. I wanted to do it last year but was away over that particular weekend. Word on the event must be spreading.

Entries are now open for all Aintree sprints through the Liverpool Motor Club website. The track day opens a month before and I'll put the link up when I get it.
