It's a shame that you can't make out the number on the chassis plate, it must be quite an early shell to have been prepped ready for racing mid '66.
Do you have any shots of the long range tank, if it's still there, would be really interesting to see where it was located.
Looks like a fantastic project and brilliant that it has been found, well done.
The aim is to get my Mk1 ready for Blyton, I've failed the previous 2 years!, that is if I'm not too late for an entry.
Gary

It had two radiators, and the front one still exists, too. It is with one of the car's former owners who I am in touch with now.
There are more detail pictures in this set and one of them is from the chassis plate, showing the number crystal clear!
I will upload some shots of the tank very soon.

Pictures of the tank would be great Jeroen, I suppose we'll just have to wait in suspense to see how early the shell is.....?

I'm surprised to see a brake servo in there.
I would have thought they would want to save weight.....use a heavier foot

They could have used a colour filter when taking the original pictures. If using a red filter anything red would appear to be white in a monochrome shot. Looking at the float bowls they look dark to me, also the top engine bar is the same colour as the engine.

Why would the engine colour have been red?

I used red as an example. It could have been green and a green filter used.

Thanks, just wondered if there was any significance in the red, as I have had a number of S engines in the past that were painted red, not by me I would add!
Thanks for the clarification.

That's what I thought! Red engines always a lot quicker, and especially with a named sun strip on the windscreen.

The picture the engine extract from L'Automobile was taken at The Le Mans Testing Day in April ... then Giraud got his engine back and Jean-Louis Marnat bought the Special Tuning engine (he went to Abingdon with a transletor because he could'nt spoke a single word of english) and it broke at the first da during testing at Montlhéry. Then, the french Importer for Morris Jean-Pierre Richard gave two Cooper S engine to the little team. They were tuned in the workshop (with Downton bits? As Marnat and his mechanic Jean Lemordant, owner of the famous french Rob Walker Mini Sprint used ST and Downton parts...)

Did you know that there was an idea of entering the car in the 24 hours of Daytona in 1968? (with JP. Jabouille (in formula one in 77/81) at the wheel?

I know I have written all that stuff before in two books... but all in french. Perhaps, I should do a booklet in English?
