Finally coming back down to ground after an amazing month building , testing and racing the new toy. Carb fell apart in race two when I was just getting the idea but we're learning

Shame you didn't say hello Andy B and any others . Hoping to get an entry in the Gold Cup as I've noticed that it's the same money for a 40 minute race that we pay for a 20 minute one in the Mighty

In the meanwhile, I'm enclosing a few pics of odds and sods

I've got some cracking footage from the second race(such as it was), but due to the type of file (.mov) I don't seem to be able to stick it on U Tub or similar, so here's some stills

The run up to the rolling start

Image

Ist corner . Andy Acespeed in front of Zodiac

Image

Earnshaw in pursuit of A35 + co

Image

Earnshaw goes ploughing (whilst in a straight line!)

Image

Jaguar arse

Image

My most thrilling part involved an enterprising A40 which was all locked up with nowhere to go (see pics tha Marc posted of Lady Do dahs)

Approaching corner and turning in

Image

Oh sh!t . Here he comes

Image

Still coming and cutting straight across

Image

Leaving me to go across the grass

Image

Here he is. Thanks to Marc (I think it was) who warned me that he could be enterprising in his overtaking moves

Image

Two other pics. One: what is this make of wheel. It's chromed. I had it in mind for the GTM (Poor man's GT40)

Image

And finally one of the H4's spitting back when we first ran it up with no rampipes. They honk a bit as you give it some beans and then immediately suck it back in. Managed to catch it with the flash

Thanks to all who have helped and encouraged. I had the time of my life

Look forward to meeting some of the shier ones at Oulton if I get there

Tim,

Give Swifty a call - he can advice on how to solve the carb problem...

('told me once, but I've forgotten what it was..)

Great pics!
That's Des Smail (Aston Martin legend) in the A40, who had no idea what was going on, as he was probably fiddling with a packet of Camels at the time.

I never had a chance to put them on whilst we were running it in and the first race, but they came up with some for the second race.

I gather they sort the problem, but then , isn't it a trait of a five port that the mixture goes back and forth as one inlet is shut/open anyway?

Neil Slark wasn't rushing to put them on as he says they have been known to cause a misfire

I was waiting for a set of cheap ones to turn up but they never arrived in time, so I felt pressured to put them on. I have a sneaking feeling that it's as much about Size and price of your Rampipes saying something about something else

There's certainly a variety of lengths and styles about

We are learning all the time...

tim

i never realised your car was a grimsby registered car

do you know who the original dealer was????

even though grimsby is the wrong side of the river to me, i still like cars with the 'EE' plates, mainly because my first car was one and my mum has EEE 777 on her car

Thanks a lot Alex. Somehow I forgot to look at this site and I'm glad to remember it

Too right Andy

Just as well that I didn't put my bumper sticker on for Silverstone

"Honk if you want Gay Sex" . Didn't seem quite 60's

Oh by the way , just to remind you were paying my entry for the Gold Cup or I release a certain picture

Does this ring a bell?
