that seal looks nothing like the boot seal that minispares currently sells............we have been selling the current sort for a good few years

the photo shows the correct way of fitting the seal, so the lip of the car is pressing into the part of the seal with the air bubble, not the part of the seal that is solid rubber (which is what happens if its fitted back to front).

mk1 side window rubbers are more difficult, there are two sorts that have a slight variance, on one the rubber flicker is a little too fat, these cause problems with piano hinge windows, but the ones with the smaller rubber flick fit perfect - I fitted a pair to my race car last week

I have a pair of the minispares quarter window rubbers that I couldn't use on my mk1 for the reason you state, is it likely they will be ok on my mk2 or will I still need to find the other type.

Thanks

I don't think genuine early boot seals are available unless you are lucky to find a nos one, will probably be from one of the current manufacturers, I can reuse my old one on my current project so at least it's one problem I don't have. But looming at the new mini spares one it looks a lot better than the new one I bought a few years ago.
Now door seals is an area I am dreading as my originals are beyond use
