I also have a late 68 car with heated rear screen. It is the type with barely visible wires. The supply wires feed through the bottom of the screen rubber. The one in your picture looks like the later type 1970's. The wires for them came off the side of the glass. This could be the change point ? Hope this helps.

Yes your correct . on my screen the wires are from the sides ( like the later type )

The late Mk 2 screens look similar to the Mk 3 but has more horizontal bars than a Mk 3 i.e. it clears more of the screen. I think Innocenti & Authi HRWs have a similar amount of horizontal bars to a Mk 2.

Simon , Have a look at my first Photo of my late mk2 , Do you think the screen is an original ? with that amount of bars ?

It's hard to tell from the picture but I don't think it is a Mk 2 version.

Looks like 5 to me.

My 72 GT has a 5 element window with the manufacturers mark to the bottom left.

My Inno has a 6 element with the manufacturers mark at the top centre.

my august 68 has a triplex hrw which has band of very fine vertical elements about 18 inches wide, you have get very close to see them. it was fitted with a trico switch, cost £12 15s 7p and still works.
