Mark,

Put it up for sale in 2017 no later is my opinion. Turn the clock forward another 5 years and those of us who appreciate the early cars will be so old or gone I am sorry to say :( :(

No he's just easily shocked. Yes the works Mini is in need of some serious TLC. Most projects are, what to do with it though? Too far gone for a patch up and keep unrestored probably, a complete rebuild to works spec would most likely be the ticket.
Paul's decision on how far to go with the car will be made after closer inspection when he eventually starts the bodywork repairs. Bearing in mind that some of the areas such as the floor panels ( although battered from it's history ), gutter and pillars, inner wings, even inner sills are reasonably good and solid, the initial plan seems to be to replace the minimal amount of original metal to get the body rot free. Obviously when started this may lead to much more. With all mechanical parts, including the Abingdon engine serviced / restored, and a few missing parts replaced ( easier said than done, I know ! ) the car would then be complete, solid and driveable. This would keep the car as original as possible and a total restoration can be carried out at any time in a vehicles life, but originality is lost through this.....
Thanks for your thoughts so far chaps, please keep them coming, they do help with this decision.

Dave

Pete,

My mates have told me you and your friends put on a nice Mini display at the Manchester Classic Car Show on 19 / 20 September. The point they wish me to make is that all your gang were friendly, interested and made them feel completely welcome.

There thanks to you all.

Alan
