As you never fail to point out, I need the larger engine to equalise the playing field due to my massive belly!

What's the purpose of the black plates on the front? Something to do with timing?

it cuts the timing light at the start and finish and ensures that the light beam has a 'clean break' rather than trying to get the body work to do it


one of the VSCC cars had one made from a broom stick, some silver duct tape and a bit of card, so its not that scientific in real life (though the rules specify certain size, height of the ground, paint finish, etc)
