I wondered what happened! Shame about the gear stick.

I have a few shots at the Craner Curves during practice.

Stuart
It was the only bit I didn't check!

Surf....sorry for the "cloak and dagger" subterfuge before the race but I'm not very good at talking to total strangers just before races. My heart rate is beating at 40% over normal as soon as I get up on race days and continues like this until the race is over.
I was on one day off from looking after grandchildren for four days so I was on a slightly sleep deprived mission but it was nice to get out for the first time in anger .

Nice to meet John and Tim and to see Will out. Pity the other cars were mostly rented by guys to get signatures on licences (they also were driving GT40's!)

Must practice starts again. Tried to get close to John by not fighting with Roger and we did , and made a 3 car race of it but in the end I suffered through idiot mentality and poor marshalling . Sent my footage off to Stuart today and luckily my cameras battery held out long enough to record what happened if not the end of the race

All on video - a right Buster Keaton moment when I grab the gearstick, it comes away from the remote housing, stare blankly at it for a second, then do a double-take

The car is now decorated with a plethora of orange seal marker gel, where previous fixings have come away over the years and are now Loctited/sprung washered and sealed!

PS Stick with it as it gets a bit interesting in the final laps.

Pictures might be done today.

they should make that other bloke race with no glass in his car and a bit of mesh welded across the windscreen hole.

he does appear to think that he is banger racing after all...........

Godfrey's been watching current BTCC banger races judging by that move of his through the chicane (literally!) at 19.36. Hard to believe that kind of driving gets overlooked by the stewards but is a move that's actually won a BTCC race in recent years. Not cricket though as you say Stu.

The car behind me turned out to be a customer who lived in Putney and used to visit my shop three times a week in the early 80's

His wife (in red coat behind us) : Basil Wales' daughter!

Blimey.....I've seen far worse than that but as this was only my second HSCC race, I'd yet to learn fully the club's standards of race etiquette.
I must be careful! :|

Nice photos, Stuart. Thanks very much
