I always ran my 999S motors with 320 / 320 cams. They just don't stop revving.
I am using the same cam and the same head on a 1480 now. I have the rev limiter set to 8000 and frequently get close, but the 999 would happily rev to 10,000. Best engine I've ever had.

So where's best to get the 320 cam?

Its a BL Supersprint.
But if using it in an 8 port you would have to get the 8 port version with the lobes swapped around.
I know that at one time Minispares had some NOS ones.

Yes this was what I was thinking and hence I haven't seen an off the shelf or easily obtainable one for sale yet. Its all abit of a learning curve for me

Actually thats the milder Sprint, not the 320/320 supersprint.

The Supersprint - 320 - 320 works great on the 970. Just make sure it's the 8 port version with the different valve sequence.
I'm sure there must be plenty of them around. I had got a second one some years ago from Kent Cams.

just for Information. we have tried a short stroke 1290 with an older Arden. The standart push rods had the right length together with 1.5 rockers and a SW23 8 port gives a lot of torque from 4 to 8. Just fine!
