The event started with horse power of a different kind, and boy do these guys leave a mess on the track.

The sun shone during the Gerry Marshall Practice.

It was a great day today, and as usual with Goodwood there is so much to see. Greta turn out of High Airbox F1 cars, including a V12 Matra. Group C display was good and they must have the largest gathering of McLaren F1 GTRs ever.
Unfortunately there are no Minis in the Sopwith Cup, but there are a couple of A40s.

Back again tomorrow for another days action. I already have a few pictures to get through and will upload more during the week.

Nick told me that his usual line down the start finish straight (ie scraping the wall) earned him a ticking off previously. Obviously went in one ear and out the other then.

Good work Stu.

Some more photos from yesterday at Goodwood taken by a friend of mine.
Nice to see Jon Mowatts Mini out again......we always used to use his rolling road in Essex to set up our road and race Mini's.

great pictures and videos - thanks a lot for sharing!

Is it just me or are those tires on the GTs bigger than for example 175/50R13. What tires do they run?

Cheers Philipp

Just got back what a terrific day, bl$*dy freezing but worth it!
Great result for Swifty and Andy Jordan.
All the races were brilliant and the demonstrations superb.
Can't wait for next year.

You're welcome, hope you enjoyed it! Highlights should be on the Goodwood Road Racing Club Youtube channel soon for those that missed the saloon race.

Anyone see the Sopwith 50's saloon race? Some very non-historic looking cars in that, how wide was that Riley 1.5? Competative Metropolitan Nash anyone??? Someone's gonna build a race winning bubble car one year.

It was an excellent weekend, if you ever get the chance to go, then go. There's no over crowding, you park right by the circuit entrance, and the action is on all weekend.

Sopwith race was interesting, as was the 911 one. The safety car helped the Swift/Jordan Mini into the lead, but Jordon couldn't hold back the Bastos Camero and Patrick Motorsport Rover after the restart. There were a few prangs, and luckily I caught the cause of the safety car when one of the Dolomites tangled with a Capri.

I have a mass of pictures which I hope to get through this week, I have also shot some video of the '70s F1 cars and Group C cars.

Don't suppose anyone noticed what exhaust set-up the GT's were using did they?

Was a bit gutted that Chris/Chris didn't get the win in the Rover SD1 today, but what a carve through the field they had....have to say the MGB was pulling some big angles first thing today too on it's way to winning the Les Leston race...my old one certainly handled nothing like that !! :o

Th GT's looked to be using straight though side exit exhausts under the drivers side, probably coupled a Maniflow stage 3 LCB :)

If you look on the previous page at the pictures I took you can see the exhausts exiting on the right hand side of both Minis. The inlets for the split Webers are Maniflow so it stands to reason the exhaust manifold are also from Maniflow

We had a great day. But man it was cold!

When we went home Sunday we were walking out of the circuit across the road to the car park at about 6pm, one of the local rozzers was also crossing, then a stream of race cars started being waved out of the main gates by the stewards and blasted up the road towards the roundabout, think their transporters were in a field up the road.....shared a grin with the policeman and we carried on to the car park!
