Just coming back from a very hot LM classic. Happy to seen Etienne and his 64 Cooper S. Very very original! Impressive... and he's still alive after an incredible traffic jam (2 hours to get in the area!)

A nice event really, although I was a bit disappointed by the racing.
I mean it is fantastic to see two 906, a 908, two 917, a 512 running together,
but it is not exactly close racing there. Frisken's Ferrari did impress me though.
And there was my favorites, a DBR9, some Elite, three B20-B24, all the well known Deutsch&Bonnet - I was ten years old again !
Some nice cars in the club area too, and some interesting pre-war machinery that I love.
But not at all matching legendary Goodwood, despite a 90% English "plateau".
Thank you Gentlemen to come along, what would be our french historical scene without you ?

Was good to meet with Enguerrand (Pluto), thanks for the encourragement, will meet up soon,
and Mike Youles, sorry Mike I could not came back in time to say goodbye.

I unfortunately didn't see the Sabre Sprint.

Some photos later, as soon as I have a moment to edit them.

It was certainly hot although a stuck float chamber whilst we were investigating a fueling problem on Robin's Handlye special didn't help......

My brother had just come from the bar opposite with 8 pints which got put to good use rather than drunk....it confirmed our thoughts that the lager was watered down!!!

Had a great time though and good to meet up with Etienne.

Other photos of our transport......

Thats an impressive jet of flame Mike!

You really were entering into the spirit of the thing in those steeds weren't you!

Everyone I have spoken to has said the same, a great event, but the actual racing was a bit disappointing, I guess the advantage of Goodwood is that everything is much closer together.

I'll have to get my finger out & go to the next one.

I have just edited a very few pictures of those taken at Le Mans Classic a few days ago.
Not too nice pictures, apologies.
So I chose just a few of the inevitable & some exotic (French) machinery, that did perform at Le Mans - winning the ubiquious "Indice de Performance" and 1000 cc class :

Early '60's Deutsch&Bonnet :

Early '60's Deutsch&Bonnet "coach" (the "mainstream" model if this ever existed !) :

1964 CD coupé :

early René Bonnet (might be a fake) :

Still none of those equal the pure lines of an early D type :

and finally, that is me camping at Tertre Rouge (my thanks to Enguerrand for inviting me to camp there along with his friends !) :

Hi Etienne

Nice to see that alll that TR's boys from normandy could spend a long Le Mans night with a Mini cooper guy!

yes the aerodjet is a replica made by EPAF

I m going to britain next week, i will, of course, say hello to Rémiand see his new one, a 67 barn find Cooper S mk1.

Hi Enguerrand,

I will be in Britain as well, next friday - sat - sunday,
and for about a week from 7 august onwards.

I had the chance to see Remi's new toy last year end of december :
it is indeed a rare find, an almost complete untouched Cooper S.
I wouldn't be surprised if you find that it was rallied in the past.
Do you remember of a red Cooper S with a yellow transverse band on the bonnet/wings ?
It was equipped with a Weber at one time, with a fiberglass air duct on the bonnet - fitted the wrong way though.
I have a few pictures would you be interested.

It would be great to find some old pictures or any fact that could help Rémi with the resto !

See you soon,
Etienne

Yes this is it !
What a find isn't it ?
It is almost complete and in vgc, even the original carpets are nice.
Always wondered if this car ever had any racing history.
