This can be checked by doing a "dummy run":
Put the primary gear on, with all the other bits including the 'C' clip.
Stick a couple of very small blobs of plasticine against the face of the clip.
Lightly grease the clip recess in the flywheel.
Put the flywheel on, and do it up reasonably tight.
Undo the flywheel and look to see how crushed up the plasticine is.
Decide whether machining is needed.
Clean all traces of grease off the flywheel.
... or you can just bolt it all together and use whatever your usual
method is for checking that the clutch dis-engages correctly...
